I picked up a Fish Tales the other night. Just got it in the basement yesterday, but spent the day watching football so I didn't mess with it until today. I have a couple of minor issues and a question. The lower half of the backglass lights are not working. The other issue is that it has reset twice while playing it.

My question is: should the plunger mechanism have a rubber tip on it? Mine has nothing on the tip, but the tip is mushroomed. The ball-popper wasn't working when I got it. It was missing a wire on one lug so that was an easy fix.

On FT it is a plunger with a plastic tip. As long as you still have plastic hitting the ball you should be ok. If its worn might want to buy a new one.

For your backglass lights first make sure all the wires are connected to the sockets. Next step is to check the connector, make sure it isnt fried. Read through this thread we had recently for good info on GI problems.

As far as your resets go the first thing to check is your wall voltage.

That would be the first thing to check for resets and also check the diodes on the flipper coils,A faulty or loose/broken diode can cause resets. You can check them with a meter.

Thanks for the tips guys, I'll check those things out today. I don't think the shooter tip has anything on it. I couldn't find the assembly in the manual.

That tip will look like this, a-14525 is the complete assembly in the manual, page 2-22.

Page 2-39 identifies the assembly as well.

a-6306-2 is the plunger itself if you need to order it.

That little white piece is the part that strikes the ball.

Ah, that would be the little white thing that's in the cash box. Kicker assembly is the name, good to know. I was thinking that was the kickout for the depth finder, but now that I look at that doesn't make sense. I'll have to see about getting a new one.

I found the source of my backglass lower-lighting problems, a fried connector. J120 I think it was.

After playing it a few days I see why many unhook the fish. Man that thumping is loud! I may order new cabinet decals. Mine are faded really badly. A couple of the usual plastic pieces are broken by the boat ramp, otherwise the playfield is in pretty good shape. Some new decals, some new siderails, and some TLC and it'll clean up really nicely.

I'll get a picture up tomorrow. Thanks again for the help guys.
