I have had mine for about 2 years and find going down stairs is just as easy as up. Once the rubber "feet" hit the stair balance the load on them and push the switch. I have moved probably 30 pinball machines, a refrigerator, stove and a cocktail video game with no problems up and down stairs by myself with no issue. I did lean it back once too far and it road down one step on the rubber belts, little scary but no harm done

Get one, practice a few times unloaded, put on something small (50 to 100 pounds), practice some more and you will be ready to move a machine in a hour or so.
