Ya we don’t have all that set up yet. Working on it. Pm for now. Should all be working by the time production parts hit

Lots color choices so before we run post pics of what you would like to see,
What kinds of red, blue, purple, green, yellow and any others

    #104 4 years ago

Any way to do a swirl pattern?

    #105 4 years ago

Good question. The molder is going to save me all the mixed colored cups they get when they do color changes. We will have to see what we end up with. Not much consistency doing that but will be one of a kinds Made

    #106 4 years ago

    Translucent metal flake?

More colors the better. Make em wild!!

I love that this idea has continued to progress. When I was just a wee lad fresh out of college, I, along with a great friend, created(what I believe to be the first cupholder to use the leg bolts). Started selling them on ebay in December of 2003. Between then and end of 2008 we had sold over 1200 units. Which for creating from some scrap pieces while and intern at the age of 20 I thought was pretty darn good.

We did not have access to funds to do injection molding and shortly after our launch, Pingulp did a great job taking the market further. It is neat to see the industry progress like it has, and I enjoy seeing how 3d Printing and other new technologies has made it possible for pinheads to make their own creations!

I like the look of these. I'll be waiting for the availability of a few.

    #110 4 years ago

Ordered 2 of the clear ones to start. Want to see how they compare to my pingulp premiums and how LED's look in them. Now to figure out some LED action...

    #111 4 years ago

Ordered 4 of the clear myself - I have a lot of Pingulp's already but think these will look great on CFTBL with Green LEDs, Getaway with Red LEDs, Judge Dredd with Blue, Shadow with Purple ...

    #112 4 years ago

How bout magnets or a lip so we can hang em off tool boxes?

    #113 4 years ago

I’ve got 20 clear on stock

My son in law is mechanic at a Chevy dealer and mounted one to his toolbox
We plan to make many add ons to the brackets. Tool holder and tray

Here’s a pic of the led roll power supply, remote and different adapters and leads to make your own led strings. Some of that comes in the roll kit and extras can be got separate. Amazon and eBay for that. I got my led rings off eBay

    Translucent metal flake?

    Second this.
But I'd also like to see some florescent type colors which react to UV leds.

    Quoted from pin-pimp:

What kinds of red, blue, purple, green, yellow and any others

IF I were you; I'd match the colors of the pinball parts. IE Pop bumpers, Pop Caps, or in a pinch my Early Solid State colors.
As you have no doubt figured out; Injection molders (at least when I've dealt with overseas vendors) - don't really have a "color" standard like Panatone.

    #116 4 years ago

We mold locally. Sky is the limit with colors when it comes to molding, unlimited color. But it helps if I have examples to match. We are molding solid colors the same as PPS leg protectors and basic translucent colors other than adding the nuke green. Post samples and I can see what we can do

That ring that you showed, do you have a link to that plus power supply? That seems to be working really well.

    #118 4 years ago

Something like this, roll, power supply and remote. You can cut and solder or use the little wire kits they sell. Easy

The rings I got off of eBay, you want 72 mm or less to fit

If you want me to send some samples (for color match) of my Buttons/housings; I'm happy to do that.

    #121 4 years ago

I think we can get by with photos. The shade of purple is prob the one I need to figure out

    #122 4 years ago

I got a cup holder installed on my excavator today, pimp!

You can find those LED rings really cheap on aliexpress. 70mm OD with 16led for $6. But keep in mind that these are also the addressable ones that need a driver.

I'm sure they have standard RGB rings on there too,

Couple pics of the led cap mold for those curious about the process. I added made in USA and adjusted the screw boss height by 1/8

What is the inside diameter of the base for the clear? I have access to LED rings, so instead of cutting strips, I will put a ring in there and an RGB controller. I just want to make sure the ring I select will fit the holders that should be here any day.....

    Thanks

    #127 4 years ago

Oh, and by the way....love the idea of making a small parts tray that will go on the holder. I was also thinking about ordering brackets for the opposite side, so the player can switch the cup side based on preference.

    #128 4 years ago

yes extra brackets can be ordered with cups or alone. that was part of the concept, multiple brackets and less cups in a game room, move cup to game your playing. in my game room i don't have top screws in. easy off to move or clean. inside of cup is about 73mm so i've been saying 72mm or smaller works. most i've seen are 70mm and smaller

You have my attention. Care to share the items and process? So far I looked at the car halo rings but they seem to be superbright - I don't want to boil my beer, nor blind the people playing.

    #130 4 years ago

I've been trying to find a source for a battery operated led ring like those novelty cups with a button on the bottom. Would be perfect for these, but can't seem to find just the guts. Only finding the whole cups.

    #131 4 years ago

I just ordered some off eBay. Was like a year ago and I can’t remember exactly what they were. One of our popular led company’s has product and developing rings just for us!

Pic of the cup mold, we added a ring to the bottom at the same height as the center screw boss to aid in supporting a flat bottomed cup. Also added made in USA engraving. Production ready now

We use them in another division of our company, and are dimmable. Should have some later this week.

    #142 4 years ago

    Dimable would be neat feature

    #143 4 years ago

I think you're going to need a projector base version too, ala Stranger Things!

    #144 4 years ago

I received one quickly. Such a good design! It's so cool I have what will be a rare prototype. Thanks for increasing the value of my pin. I can't wait to see the final product in all the cool colors. Nice work guys!!

According to the shipping tracker, they arrived at my office today. I will work on them this weekend. I also ordered some similar rings from Amazon to compare...mainly due to cost differential between the two. For my purposes, the differential is no big deal, and the rings I would be using are installed in commercial devices, so there is a reason for the cost difference. But for someone doing a bunch of these, the extra $5 a ring is pretty high.

    #146 4 years ago

Trying to keep up with this thread as I really could use some cup holders for my games. What's the ETA on the full production run and is there going to be an official store page I can order from?

    #147 4 years ago

Yes we will have a pinside store and our website will be live.
Couple weeks for our first production order, about 3000 going to scattered distributors

    #148 4 years ago

Tested the commercial rings along with these:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0799Q41SZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00

Turns out the Amazon rings are the best bang for the buck. The 70mm fits in just perfect, and a couple of spots of silicone keep them in place. They are not overly bright and in single color mode are dimmable. The diming feature doesn't apply if you have it in motion, fading from color to color...but that is with any of the led's. I just used Velcro to tuck the controller inside the back of the leg, and it fits there just fine. You can run 12V from a small transformer, and that is all you need. They look great. As soon as I get them all mounted, I will post a pic. Nice add to the game room

    #149 4 years ago

These look a lot brighter in the pic than they actually are. This is their brightest, and you can dim from there, but really, they are not bad at all.

Well, thanks for doing the leg work on these! I just ordered them, have four of the cups so just perfect with 4 pieces.
