Quoted from Sethman:

And I know I can’t be the only one wondering, Randy, can these X panels be used in place of the normal led rgb panel? In a title where an lcd normally would fit.
I’m curious seeing the visual difference side by side between regular led rgb and the X panel. 2mm vs 2.5mm spacing difference.

Guessing no...the resolution is different. 128x64 compared to 192x64. There's 4096 additional functional pixels. There's no way to scale that other than to unevenly stretch pixels into duplicates. Would be really ugly...like watching 480i video on a 1080p TV. It's not just that the spacing between pixels is smaller, the display area is physically larger as well, so it wouldn't even fit the cutout for a standard size DMD... some of the pixels would be behind wood or metal, even if you could mount the thing.

I mean...they could tell the software to only output to 128x64 area and let you adjust that with controls I guess but....WHY? With the pitch being smaller, it's going to not fill the display area in the same way as the regular DMD or the existing LED one. Still think mounting would be an issue.

Up next: ColorDMD DotsXL LED DMD - Every pixel has a little square diffuser box glued to it and they all line up on the edges to make a flat seamless surface LMAO. (KIDDING....but hey.. I'm calling rights to that idea right now. Both as a modification and as a standalone. )

Quoted from epthegeek:

You've done that twice now. Standard DMDs are 128x32, not 64. The Big Sega is 192x64.

Point is the same either way, but thanks I guess.
