So picked up a board which came from a data east Simpsons. Changed to the proper rom. The board had 2 and my r&b had one one rom. Do I need to do a jumper to get this to boot? I also took out the ram and put an nvram in. The 5v lights up and the pia light stays on. I get a quick scramble on the dmd.

Ok so I've switched the jumper from j4 to j5. Changed out the nvram and put in regular ram. Board is still not booting. I have the 5v and pia led are on. Per the data east repair guides it says the rom at c5 is bad. I know it's good since it was working in my old board. Any guidance on where to start?

Any ideas?

Already changed jumper and still have pia led on. The rom at c5 is good. I tested in the old board. Would the test rom even work if the board won't boot?

So reading up on this board, looks like it could be one of the 6821 pia. How can you test these without a logic probe? Is that possible?
