Still trying to get a good clean copy of the schematic. Lots of people have told me they have it, but so far I'm empty-handed.

    #52 5 years ago

I have 2 Allied Leisure Pinball Controller boards if anyone is interested in them. They are untested, unknown condition. Looks like some board work has been done on them in the past but not hacked up.

I also have the schematic for the MPUs and power. I got these in a lot of boards from an operator. I have no use for them so if them can help someone out that would be great. The schematic says they are for a cocktail table.

The boards and schematics are on the way to @sndchaser. Hopefully they are what he needs to move ahead on his project.

Awesome! Same exact board I need

    #55 5 years ago

Many thanks to TheWiz for the schematics and boards! Finally a schematic I can read! Will keep everyone posted on the progress and might ask for public opinion on features as I move along.

    #56 5 years ago

I really need these! I have like 20 AL games now..lol

If you need any test machines, I have a working Roy Clark and a partially working Foxy lady. Just let me know how I can help. If you want I can even drop the machines off to you.

    Any progress on this project?

    #59 5 years ago

Have been working on it when time permits. Selected an MCU and got the development board for it since it's SMD with a lot of pins. Have some parts of the schematic laid out.

    #60 5 years ago

I am very excited for this!

    #61 5 years ago

    Following as well.

    How is this going?

    #63 5 years ago

I second the How is it going question. I REALLY need this

    #64 5 years ago

Slowly... Have had some other obligations to focus on lately.

What is the time frame on this? 6 months, year, or more. I am considering shipping an old board out to get repaired. I would hate to do this and the new boards are available the next day. Thank you

I probably wouldn't hold my breath for it.

I just meant that complicated side projects often take a considerable amount of time to complete.

    #69 4 years ago

Yes, side project is the key word.

Following... Had a customer bring me a Take Five that's a total basket case. Given the value of these machines like had already been mentioned, it's not economically feasible for me to put a lot of time into it, but a new MPU could be everything needed.

For anyone interested - Game will 'boot' (I think) - it'll coin up and start... but pretty much all controlled lights are locked on, some switches don't respond, and others lock on one single pop bumper. I read something about a self test switch, but can't find one anywhere in the machine. No displays, but flippers work. Voltages are good and connectors look ok. Similar to the 'it may not work again' - he bought it working then one day it just stopped and started doing this.

    #71 4 years ago

I'm also following this thread. I've got an Eros One that's in pretty good shape but has a bad MPU. If anyone has a working one for sale, please let me know!

    #72 4 years ago

I remember getting in contact with Rockwell back in the day...
They have the program and they could do the IC, but they needed clearance from the copyright
owners of the game manufacture. At the time, it was about $10,000.00 dollars per an IC
for them to reproduce. With 3 ICs that hold the software, it was way over priced at the time.
I did extract the software code but it may be off. If Allied Leisure had used three 2716
Eproms, these games would be easy to keep alive today..

I am new on Pinside. I have a few cocktails. I truly hope this goes well. I think that a cocktail table with today's technology would be great. I hope that this board issue can be taken care of!

my apologies if this is the wrong place to post

Can anybody recommend replacement solenoids? My take five needs a new flipper coil and I'd like to get one similar to the original one. Or better yet, a good guide on the relationship between wire gauge, # of windings, etc.

    My original one has printed "315 - 1 - 18 (2.7 Ohms) (17 Ohms)"
one was replaced (and needs replacing again) with a Williams coil that reads "SFL-21 400/33-1300-DC"

I've bought a few pincoil solenoids hoping to find an off-the-shelf substitute, but they're too large (the base and the height both), and I can't seem to find the Williams one for sale nor a suggested replacement...

I’m keen too if this ever happens! The potential for improved game rules sounds exciting too

Any more news on a new MPU

    #81 3 years ago

    I guess not

    #82 3 years ago

I did try to dabble a little bit with the 6502 code.
    Many years ago...
But you need someone that has the finances, skill, and knowledge, to make it happen.

Look what I have found in my old Take Five Cocktailpin:
A System Rom and 16K RAM to emulate the Hardwarecoded Custom Code of the 6530 and use the MPU with 6520 PIAs! And this is from 1987!!
I have dumped and save the Rom and try to redo the Shematics and order new Boards from PCBWay.

This is impressive, I’d love to know the backstory on this.

I can´t tell the whole Story. I did buying the Cab last Year, 14 Months ago. Before I bought it, I checked it a little .The Cabinet was not fully working, but I can start and Play a Game with the MPU above. Also I bought it...
For Transport Ihad to disassemble the Cab.
At Home after Assembling a lot of Connectionprobs. The Cab itself has a lot of Waterdamage. The MPU a lot of Corrosion. one bad 6520, one bad 7404 and one bad 7425. Knocker Coil shorted. One Logic IC in the right Display bad. Many Tracks on the selfmade Rom PCB´s broken by Corrosion and so on...
But on this PCB´s you can read the Name "Dieter Habermann 1987"...

I find 2 Orginal MPUs in untested Condition. Both are bad, but now I understand that my own PCB has Custom PCBs... Trying to repair this 2 MPUs for Months with no Luck. At the End the Romsets are dead. Of 6 Roms you can´t get 1 working Romset...

Last Month I tried to repair the old MPU with the Custom Roms and get it bootable in under 2 Hours. But i musst say,- not tested in Cab yet.. But i need a break from this badly Cab or it goes out of the Window....
So I decided to read out the Eeprom and try to get a working Copy of this Customchanges for the other 2 MPUs...

The first Tryout you can see on the Pictures. The Custom Roms to install in the Sockets became very little, thx to SMD... The Ram and Rom I planned to piggypag on a PCB with the CPU together to minimise the most of the Solderingmess. Now they are 6 or 7 Jumperwires to solder. In a few Days I order the PCB´s at PCBWasys, but I like to check my own Drawings before I order.....

Can someone send me the technical Manual in a good Quality? Not the bad Scan in the Internet... Buying it from Flipper's. com cost more shipping than the Manuel costs. (to Germany).

    #97 3 years ago

If you happen to get a good manual, could you please post it here. I have been looking for one for a long time.

    #98 3 years ago

I might have a complete manual for Boogie from John's Jukes... gimme a day or two to look!

    #99 3 years ago

I have complete schematics and the "electronics operation manual," as well as Allied Pinball's troubleshooting guide... all for Boogie.
All great quality from John's Jukes.

    PM me.
