I just traded for my AS pro last weekend, without any thought about a possible update coming this week. What a fortunate, timely trade! I had the same problem uploading the new code. It's large, and took me about 30 mins to upload the 3 unzipped files onto a thumb drive. Then, when I plugged in the USB drive and powered on the pin, the update froze during install. I had to stop, power off, start over, and do a complete update again. The second time, it worked. What a fantastic, thorough update to an already fine machine! This should give people confidence and hope in new Stern machines. It may take a year or more, but the code will come along. Ghostbusters?
Finally new finished code for Aerosmith. Now we can get the Color DMD guys to do their thing.
Ahhh the good old days. Well son. I remember when dmd's used to only come in one color. We used to wait around for the game code to be finished. Then the nice guys from color dmd would work there magic. Dad how come the display in the Ghostbusters pinball is not in color? One day son. One day.
Quoted from pinbum:It will not even begin the update.
Does it stall during the unpack files? Mine sat in that part for 10-15 minutes before it started and then the update went painfully slow, but eventually finished. I’ve also had an update where it kept failing at a certain point and I’d turn off the power and would turn it back on and it would go a little further each time. Eventually it finished. Someone else said they had this happen also.
Quoted from pinlawyer:What do smart missiles do and how do you get them?
Also curious. They'd previously been promised but unused.
I am guessing they credit shots toward multiballs or modes.
Quoted from pinlawyer:What do smart missiles do and how do you get them?
You can get them by making the skill shot when you plunge the ball softly and it falls back down into the lock area and you can be rewarded a smart missile from the mystery scoop as well I believe. When you use a smart missile it awards you with two shots. I think there is a limit of three smart Missiles per game.
Wow... I really enjoyed this game and light/art package before and now it is even better.
I may actually go out on a limb here and say the speed and flow along with objectives putnit right up there with Metallica.
Really incredible, fingers crossed they give GB the attention it deserves, love that game too!
Smart Missiles are now in the Mystery Crank it Up Awards..... aside ally Smart Missiles credit the best shot on the playfield... ie
Say in Love in an Elevator your at floor 7 and you need 1 more floor to get big payouts and your ball is a out to drain, hit that b*tech and collect the rewards....or you need 1 more shot to complete Sweet Emotion and the time is down to 2 seconds....hit it baby, hit it and collect the riches....lol
Quoted from TNTs:Smart Missiles are now in the Mystery Crank it Up Awards.
And you can get them from making a skill shot on your plunge also
Holy crap
The 1st Wizard Mode is totally different and 1000 more fun than before, had 1 more shot to get to Final and drained
Quoted from Bond_Gadget_007:Also heard Combo Champion is stuck on KIM @ 15
Has anyone dethron this mystery bot know as Kim?
I don't know who Kim is, but you can change the number of combos. It's a two-step process - first, you go into settings and change Feature Adjustment #44 (Feature, not Standard) "Combo Champion" to whatever number you want. Then, you have to go in and reset the high scores, which is under the Utility --> Resets menu. I'm not sure if you need to reset the Champion or not (I reset both since no games had been played on the new code yet).
Most people miss the second step of resetting the high scores.

Quoted from ASOA:One of the best light shows in pinball on the Premium/LE.
Same with the Pro model, its extremely good, especially for a Pro.
Quoted from ASOA:One of the best light shows in pinball on the Premium/LE.
Really? I’ve never seen a Prem/LE, don’t think there was any brought over to the U.K.
Any chance you could do a little video and show off these badass lightshows you have me intrigued.
Let me see what I can do. Someone needs to put this up on YouTube. I'm sure there are a ton of people who want to see all the new updates.
Tried updating the code tonight I downloaded it and inserted the usb into the game but nothing happens I tried it a couple of times and gave up I guess I will try again tomorrow.

Did you download to desktop, unzip to desktop, then move those 3 unzipped desktop files to an empty flash drive then power cycle game?

Thats all correct info but another little quirk that i did that helped id like to share. Instead of moving them to the usb file by "sending" it there, i took the mouse and dragged them there and dropped them in....dont ask me why that made a difference but it sure did. Also, i didnt have to unzip the files when I dragged them and dropped them into the usb file.
One more thing, make sure there is nothing on the usb drive and i even reformatted mine again. I dont know if that was neccessary or not nut i did it anyway. Good luck coolpin!

Alright thanks for the advice guys i will try messing with it later today again. The weird thing is right before i tried to update Aerosmith i had just updated my iron maiden and it worked fine so i was surprised to have trouble on Aerosmith.
I have tried 2x to update with 2 known to be good USB sticks and it fails everytime.
Gonna get another stick any try yet again.

I will try this also. Thanks for the possible tip. This is very frustrating, esp when it takes so long to download, unzip, load on stick, go to location, and have it fail 20 times in an hour.
I always download to the desktop, open the folder, copy the 3 files, paste on the USB drive. Never had any real problems. Sometimes the update will hang and fail but if I just restarted it it always went through.
Definitely a huge update, nice to see some balance and polish on what was already a solid game.

Full update with verify worked for me. Quick seems to always freeze and be not so quick.

I couldnt even get mine to start downloading. I would put the USB stick in the machine and turn it on and the game would just boot up normally and be ready to play a game. Is your actually trying to update once you turn the game on? Im no expert on computers, just passing on what i did and what worked. I hope you get your game going, let us know. Good luck.

That's the exact thing Mine is doing I will try your tip later today.
Not sure if this has been posted before, but I had issues updating AS on the last update and also on this one. I moved the thumb drive to the other USB port and it uploaded with no issues. In the other slot, it would update partially and then froze. After trying a few times on that slot, I moved it and it updated flawlessly. AS is the only game I've had this issue with.
Quoted from Coolpinballdino:Trying to download the code again but not it's just telling me the file is too large.
Too large to put on your usb stick? Mine said that also. Download it to your desktop or wherever and then if you click on it, it should show you 3 seperate files. Take your mouse and drag each file and drop them into your USB folder and it should work.

Thanks Who Dey I tried it the way you suggested and it worked.

Thats awesome man, glad it worked for you. I dont really know what the hell im doing, i just know what worked for me. Enjoy!

mine attempts to update but keeps failing at different spots with message of "failure to unpack"
I picked up another new usb stick, formatted correctly, and now trying your precise method of download > unzip on local desktop > then drag and drop to get on stick. Heading over after work with this attempt to see if it helps.
If not then, I will try second USB port on the game like others are suggesting.
If still not, then Chas can come figure it out himself, lol.
I always downloaded to desktop then extract to usb device. Never had a problem doing it that way. Good luck to all. Technology will be the death of us.
The only way I could get it to work was to download it, extract it then drag it to my memory stick.
First time I ever had to do it that way.
I need to find a game with the new code to play. Reports are sounding good. Been considering buying a pro, but it is difficult choosing a game to sell.

same here...
i was waiting/looking for some titles (including AS) to simply swap VS my TWD
but in any case, the code should have been finished before i really consider this possibility... seems we're quite close now about AS

Quoted from Jgel:Says the guy with a 40 game collection Try only having room for 2.
Well...16 are projects in the garage to be worked on and I have 2 working games on loan to brother and 3 to friends. Rest are inside my 2100 sq ft house. Packed 2 games per bedroom. I have 5 in the dining room which doesn't leave much room for the dining room table I have in there, but it works for me.
I can pack games in places. I'm willing to show anyone they have room for another game. haha
Quoted from Jgel:Says the guy with a 40 game collection Try only having room for 2.
ha fu**** lol
... as i have only room for 2 ! (and a 3rd to my sister house)

I didnt have to unzip mine. I just clicked on the download and then dragged all 3 files to the USB folder and it worked. My first attempt did freeze up when it was down the code to the game so i turned the game off for about a minute and turned it back on and it downloaded just fine on my 2nd try.

Nice vid Tom! What's your pitch at, game looked fast and fun. Nice setup.

mine finally worked.
Download to local desktop
unzip to local
drag all 3 files and drop on USB
safely eject USB
insert USB into game and start update process
"fails at unpacking" 2 or 3 times at various stages in the process
cuss a bunch after blowing 20-30 min each time it fails.
turn off game
remove an insert USB in other available port
same issue
cuss some more
try one more time and finally it worked!
Stern has an issue with updates. Whatever they are doing, it needs refinement.
Finally worked but took way too much effort to make this happen.
New code is great!
Quoted from Whysnow:Stern has an issue with updates. Whatever they are doing, it needs refinement.
Totally agree with you, it should be easier. I'm glad you finally got it downloaded, now blow it up and show us some high scores!
