KenLayton this has been a great informative thread.

The speaker I am posting is in dire need of replacement. I bought an 8 ohm replacement from Parts Express via the link you provided. I am still at a quandary about the 200Ω10%10W resistor(?) picture along side the volume control. I did a search and an exact match on ebay pretty cheap. I thought I was buying two, but bought two packages of 10. (sheesh)

I am not sure what this ceramic concoction does or if it has something to do with the volume control or reducing the impedence to the speaker. I'm pretty green at this and trying to figure out how this works from the soundboard in this 1979 Meteor pin. I also have a Paragon and Playboy I need to upgrade down the road.

I saw an earlier post about replacing a volume control knob, but I can seem to find it, or if it's the right one I need for these games. Thanks for you great insight and sharing your knowledge! Much appreciated!

    Quoted from Quench:

That 200Ω ceramic resistor doesn't belong there. Likely someones previously installed it because for what ever reason the volume is stuck on high so they reduced it by adding that resistor in series with the speaker.
Fix the issue with the volume control/circuit...

Yeah, this didn't seem right to me. Is the volume control stick knob in the photo original? Could that be the issue and need replacement? Or is the issue with the sound board? I guess I will find out. Thanks for your response @Quench.

So many hack jobs on this pin it's sad. I am running into issue after issue regarding troubleshooting problems and I'm not even good at this stuff.

Hey Quench — I pulled my speaker out of my Meteor and discovered the wiring to the volume control is different than yours. Not to mention the color of wires. If it wouldn't be inconvenient, would you have a photo of the plug? I don't think it matters much. I believe the left outer pin is negative and the next pin in might be the positive side?

I think someone just wired my volume up wrong and put that resistor on there. *SMH*

    Thanks, Geo.
