I need to upgrade the speaker in my Quicksilver scratch build. Sounds like the Visaton BG17-8 6.5" is the way to go. I'll order from Parts Express.

But does anyone know if they also sell the correct potentiometer replacement? It just has to be 5W & 100 ohm? I don't want to put the wrong one in there.

And what would be the benefit of adding these extenders to the speaker?

It's my first time replacing one of these early solid state speakers. Thanks!

I’m pretty sure I’m reading this post above correctly but I just want to be sure before I swap & resolder my new 8 ohm speaker. My game is in pieces right now.

On my old Stern Meteor speaker, the green/yellow wire runs to the ‘positive’ lug (on the side with the red dot), and the green/white wire runs to the ‘negative’ lug. See photo.

The +/- lugs on the new speaker are clearly marked, I just didn’t want to solder them incorrectly.

    Thanks
