They probably had a minimum device size in mind and chose the closest mass-market (aka cheap) LCD to fit, hence the giant bezel.
Not sure where you got this, but I would dispute it.
Walmart's gross margin is under 25%
& most retailers I know use a keystone markup which is a 50% margin

Correct Walmart sells on slim margins and expect the same from their vendors
