Would anyone know where this ground strap was supposed to go as cannot see any staples missing something around the area?
Just starting to clean the insides out

It's not a neutral or a negative line but rather a ground. It gets stapled inside the game and goes under or attached to everything metal in the cabinet and head of the game.

In your picture, it will go under that metal bracket where the leg plate is. That leg plate will have a small screw to hold it in place when the leg bolts are removed to keep it from falling down.

Thanks for putting me right -)

I am assuming that it goes up into the back box and joins the others but cannot see anywhere that looks like it received it, unless all the metal work in the back box get's it ground from the wiring looms?

Yep it goes up into the head and attaches somewhere around the bottom of the backbox or metal backplate the boards are attached to. It's not critical where it gets attached as long as it gets attached. Typically there's a screw towards the bottom of the metal backplate to attach the ground braid to.

It should have a connection somewhere to the negative (0 V) side of power supply, and to the ground wire of power cord.
