I still don't get the "create more demand" strategy that Nintendo is alleged of. How does people selling this on ebay for 4 times the price help Nintendo? Sure, as they trickle out releases, they'll get snatched up immediately but they'd sell a ton nonetheless if more were available. Look at the PS4 when it was released. Sort of hard to get but not unobtainable. Sony sold a ton and has outpaced Microsoft since. I don't get this strategy.

On the other hand, if Nintendo really didn't forsee the demand this thing will have, then shame on them for not knowing their consumer. But I think that's BS. They wouldn't allow pre-orders to gauge interest. Nintendo knew this was going to be a popular item. This is not 1985 anymore. F*ck the "holiday hysteria" mentality. Why not just make more to sell? Popularity will wane after the holidays.

Personally, I wanted one. Just to play Punch Out! (really wanted Mike Tyson though ). But I'll just wait till I find one later...for $60. Not $300. I've been playing that game for almost 30 years. Sold my original Nintendo and cartridge earlier this year. I can wait.

If you think this is bad, just wait for the Switch launch in March....

I still don't think people are going to care much beyond the holidays. It's not like a console that's going to keep releasing games.

Quoted from Frax:

No doubt, I'll be in the tent in front of best buy, just like I did with the wife and the kid. Was fun, but I wasn't there nearly as long as I was for the Xbox 360 (18 hours)...the tent was just a windbreak because it was frigging freezing and windy!

That's hard core. Supply is different depending on where you live. I walked into my local Circuit City (remember that?) and picked one up a few weeks after launch. BUT, I work a job where I had days off during the M-F and wasn't married, no kids, no mortgage. What did I do when I had a job that paid pretty good compared to my expenses? Went shopping of course! Panera Bread for lunch and then trips to Electronics Boutique, Best Buy, Tweeter and Circuit City. If I had the time, then a trip to the local mall arcade! Yea, there was still one. The guy had a great video game setup with all the cabs slapped right next to each other in a dark room. His pinball collection was "meh" at best. Gottlieb's Rescue 911, Strikes and Spares with Stern's Meteor and Sega's Viper and, the best, being Data East's Star Wars. Wait? What were we talking about? Oh, yea. Nintendo. Those were the days. Pre-ordering Ocarina of Time and getting the gold cartridge and bag.....Ahhhhhh

After the holidays, most people aren't going to give a fuck. I wanted one since it was first announced this past spring, and I already don't give a fuck (almost, still want one though). Nintendo, maybe you should have shut off production of the Wii U last year and started on the NES Classic instead. It apparently sells better. You stupid fucks. It pisses me off that these people are so rich when they have no idea what the fuck is going on. Do they live in a bubble?

Your tone sounds like maybe you do give a fuck.

Absolutely. I do care. I wouldn't even bother to post if I didn't. It's just that I'm angry with Nintendo for fucking this up so much. They're living in the 80's and it really annoys me. I truly believe that Nintendo is going to lose sales over the long run because of not supplying enough at the initial demand. This is a closed system. No updates. No downloadable content. It's not like a PS4 or XBOX ONE with continuous content over several years. Other people have said it too. It would have been a better financial decision for them to make more systems to meet demand.

I think now that the Switch is out, Nintendo wants to sell these classic games through their store. Cheaper than manufacturing these mini systems. And they're going to do it all over again with the SNES Mini this fall.

Frankly, I'm disgusted. Though all these companies can be greedy, Nintendo just seems to be the worse. At least Microsoft and Sony don't play the "limited supply" game like Nintendo does.
