Quoted from meSz:Love the Shiner one!! Some nice colors to it!!!
You need this one ...... (it's 47x37)BL_Penguins_(resized).JPG
How about the Heinenkin Incline one instead??
Quoted from d0n:Neon inside the pin and surrounding it. I like it because it's not one that everybody has

The Dude Abides!!!
A little Texas flavor since I live in Houston these days....blue is the hardest neon color to photograph.
* Shiner Beers Houston TX neon
* Shiner Beers Cotton Ball 100 Years Anniversary neon
* Labatt Blue Edition Super Chexx, with custom USA vs. Canada players and scoreboard, split base HUO
* Bud Light Bubble Boys Wayne Gretzky Autographed shadow box that was prize for winning Midwest Regional Bubble Boys Championship in 2003.
Just need to clean up the wires!
Quoted from jorge5240:Man I am a neon junkie. A couple of the bathroom
That Mickeys one is super sweet!
Quoted from jrockne:Do I get any extra credit for the light-up table/chairs, the vintage style "Arcade" sign, or the color changing Pacman Ghost?
Definite props on these....especially the lighted table and chairs
Quoted from Enaud:I'm trying to locate an Enhance America EH-9030A. I called the 800 number on the back of the sign, but it's no good. Left Enhance America a voicemail and an email today, but no response. Does anyone have a source for buying one of these transformers?
Google them. I ordered one direct from them for my Shiner 100 Years neon. If it wasn't so rare and in perfect condition, I would have done what MrBally suggested and got a used one locally for cheaper. But I wanted all original on mine and got from manufacturer.
Quoted from presqueisle:I've always been a cord hider, in finished spaces. I use those peel and stick channels, paint them up and good to go.
I agree. Now that I have the neons I don't see moving anytime soon, I will be doing exactly that.
Quoted from jalkelly:LOVE that Shiner one!
I got very lucky on that Shiner one. It was buried 7 pics deep in a CL ad that was just titled "neons". When I got there, it didn't work. I got it and a Coors Light Super Bowl 43 neon that did work. It took me a while negotiating it down on price. All it needed was a new transformer. Pretty much mint!
Here's a close up of it. Main color is blue. Such a hard color to photograph. The combination looks 3D in person. Also including bonus pics of the Shiner one I have next to it. (More wires needing cleaned up!)
Quoted from gac:Here are some of mine... nothing special but I like them.
I've always liked those Bud Light neons like you have. Reminds me of the logo style during their Wayne Gretzky Bubble Boys promotion days.
Quoted from Lswonz28:How do you have all your neons plugged in to the outlet?
I have four waiting to put up, and was thinking of using a power surge protector. I would simply turn on all the neons and just use the on and off switch on protector from there on. Don't know if it would hurt the neons or not.I was just curious as to how you have them plugged in.
Sorry for delayed reply...yes. The neons on the back wall are in a power strip and I just turn that switch on. it extends the life of the transformers because the pull chain switch can stop working from repetitive use. Many transformers are difficult to just fix the chain switch. The local neon shop who fixes ones I get cheap that are broke recommended that to me. When I go to his shop, he never uses the pull chains. Just plugs them in and out. That being said, the one off neons on the side walls are not on a power strip, and I use the pull chains with crossed fingers and a prayer. But those one I rarely turn on. Hope this helps....
Good points on switches. I actually just had a switch go out on me and am contemplating the repair myself. I had one transformer with bad switch and couldn't get into it, so I just replaced the transformer. Maybe they are easier to get to than I realized? The two neon guys I have used in the past both said it's easier to just swap a transformer. Maybe they were just pulling my leg? Haha
Quoted from meSz:Actually they're very easy to fix! Just take the housing off the power supply and pull out to 3 wires and snip them! Splice the new switch on (you can get them cheap at Lowe's, Home Depot etc.). I use shrink tubing to ensure that the wires don't touch or, on older models, touch the metal housing!
What amp switch do you use? Or how can one tell after opening the transformer? As fate would have it....one of my neons had its switch stop working this week...feeling brave enough to fix it on my own. Looking at Home Depot website, they have 3 and 6 amp switches. Also, where do you get the shrink tubing? Home Depot too?
Quoted from ramegoom:Check out this neon sign I just picked up. It's a facsimile of a vacuum tube, based on Rolling Rock beer. "33" turns out to be the quality guarantee on every can of beer, which is 33 words long. Sign is about 24 in. tall.
That is a cool neon! However, the “33” meaning you listed above is incorrect. There are 33 words there, but the “33” means something else. Can anyone help this gentleman out?
Quoted from meSz:That's a nice sign ..... be a good trade-off for the Incline sign??? (lol)
Could be but shipping would be a nightmare! Haha!
I grew up about 30 minutes from Latrobe. What we were told and understood was that in the old days, when typesetting was done manually, the number 33 denoted “end of paragraph”. The typesetter who did the initial bottles run forgot to remove the 33, which designated the end of the paragraph, and was printed on the bottles. Being the time following the Great Depression, it wasn’t feasible to throw all those bottles away so they left it and distributed them anyways. It just so happened that there were 33 words in the paragraph. And the rest is history.....
33 ... typesetter print error. Looks like us Western Pa boys had the same local scoop on it.
We used to get Super 42 cases of those 7 ounce pony bottles, fill up a tall plastic trash with water and ice, and put 3-4 cases in it....sit around and play Euchre and poker and crush those Ice Cold little painted bottles. So damn good!!!! Then they sold out and Anuesher Busch ruined it. Haven’t had a Rock since they sold.
Quoted from SilverUnicorn:Yes sir.
Quoted from meSz:Is Boars Head the Deli (lunch) meat??
Neat looking sign!
There was a kid in my grade school that always smelled like lunch meat
Quoted from Ballypin:How do you spell Williams ????
Too many L’s.
Quoted from onemoresean:Thanks, that's still one of my favorite neon lights.
Funny...I have that same
modelo and the Houston version of that Heineken city neon. Mickeys is on the short list for sure...
Quoted from scampcamp:My 1960’s flying goblet sign is finally working.
That’s a sweet one!
Quoted from littlecammi:No. Diet Doctor Pepper is the sweet one.
Quoted from Blitzburgh99:How far is your FIL from Houston? I have 2!
Quoted from ramegoom:Neons will last longer when left on. The initial arc shortens the life of the ballast and internal tube anode, so they're really designed to be run permanently. Since the current draw is minimal, it's a safe bet to run them all the time, and inexpensive electricity-wise.
The high wall outlets were designed with this in mind.
This is true. If a fella is going to turn them on and off though, use a power strip or plug/unplug. One of the more common fails is the pull chain switch.
Quoted from goingincirclez:Please note the Fat Tire has nice round wheels, so it's an original US-made production. All the Chinese knock-offs have distorted, ovoid wheels. 312 was Goose Island's flagship beer well before AB bought them out. I first saw that sign when I made the pilgrimage to get blitzed at a hometown sportsbar during Game 1 of the '05 Word Series... and had to have one. My brother almost conned that same one to go home with us but, it was a wild night ha ha... so I had to find one elsewhere.
The small round one in the middle is not a pure commercial neon, but the first "neon sign" I ever owned, and one I made myself. I kitbashed a repro art-deco console wall clock with a neon ring that came from a different novelty clock, but happened to fit nicely in the art deco ring frame, with just enough power to make that whole frame glow softly. I then reproduced the face of a rare 1955 bubble advertising clock (which was much larger and lit by two 60W bulbs) to fit my frankenstein:
[quoted image]
It's obviously overpowered by the commercial signs but sometimes I don't want those on anyway, in which case the blue ring is just bright enough.
I also have an old vacuformed sign that might still be my favorite, and is the first one that greets gameroom guests:
[quoted image]
I grew up in southwest Chicago, where Old Style tavern marquees were more common than all the Baptist Church Signboards where I live now. It's a comforting reminder of home (perhaps even moreso than the 312 Sears Tower
Ummm...are you sure about that Fat Tire being American? Where did you get that information? Maybe post a pic of the tag on the transformer...the ones I’ve seen in bars and liquor stores that I would be darn positive are original manufacturer releases look like the following. Anything else, from what I’ve gathered, are knockoffs...unless Fat Tire changed their style. I apologize in advance if I am incorrect here. Can others with Fat Tire neon knowledge chime in?
57924F8F-CCE0-4AA7-AD75-5B232BB29AF3 (resized).jpegQuoted from goingincirclez:I'll check the transformer when I get home. My fat tire came new in the original box with manufacturer's IDs and such which I don't recall now. But I do remember it was a sturdy box of "OEM American" quality, not like the generic "soft cardboard with generic fonts" a lot of Chinese stuff comes in.
When I was looking for a Fat Tire sign I discovered the side profile one, where the handlebars make the cross-stroke in the "A", is rarer... I prefer that one because the wheels are circular. But while looking for that I found TONS of Chinese knock-offs of the "approaching" (angled) bicycle. Most were pretty bad in terms of consistency of spacing from rim to tire... a couple were downright awful unless you like boomerangs for tires. Eventually I saw a couple that looked more uniform, like Blitzburgh's….maybe those were originally USA made?
Must be a newer, updated style from the manufacturer. Dammit!!! Now I want that one too!!
Quoted from ralphs007:I saw this neon for sale and the seller wants $90.00. I've seen it everywhere, so I don't think it's really rare. Is this worth 90.00?
Thanks in advance
Ralph

Go grab the anchor steam if you haven’t already. It appears to be the smaller size version, maybe 8x8ish. Those small ones very hard to come by. I have the small Anchor and it’s one of my favorites. Great color and small to fit into the right space.
Here’s my smallest and my largest neons.

I picked this sign up as another NHL team and wanted to retheme it to my favorite team, the Pittsburgh Penguins. My neon guy changed the puck color from white to yellow and Mr_Tantrum produced the puck decal with Pens logo to complete the transformation. Best Bud Light logo ever.. And the orange and black NHL logo? Classic!
A65819E8-3D4B-429A-9253-DB73BBF75C83 (resized).jpegQuoted from meSz:True sign that neon is a dying art! Mt Vernon Neon, owned by Everbrite, closed their doors about a month ago. Everbrite has ceased production of neon altogether and now refer people to Antigo Neon.
That’s not good....everbrite was great to work with.
Quoted from TomDK:I have also such a "china BBB sign" and I am quite happy with it.
Same for the JJP sign, they were sold out and were around 400 EURO, china-sign was under 200 and works fine.
Colors are natural mich nicer than on the pics.
The WOZ playfield is fitted with RGB LED and a rasperry, the animation is 1 from the original attract mode, very nice wallhanger.

The pop bumpers look pretty cool! Can you edit your post and rotate the pics so they are correct orientation to look at?
Quoted from PeterG:That 7-up one is nice!
Soda pop neons are hard to come by. Really digging it! Good score!
Quoted from Pin-up:I'd love to try my hand at repairing some neon signs. Glass bending and all. Anyone know of a good source for a nice set of everything you would need to get started with this? Could be fun to learn I think.
A great place to start is the Museum of Neon Art website. MONA is in Los Angeles and has neon sign tours in LA, a large art gallery, and offers classes in person and on zoom. Check them out for making your own neons.

Quoted from Fordiesel69:The camera will not capture the vibrant colors, which is a shame. When the pinball room is lit with neons, nothing else compares. Not even LED's. Also there is something special about the neon HV transfomers unique buzz. It is very "alive".
If you want to photograph a neon and get its colors to show, set the neon on a granite countertop. Take a pic of the neon and the neon reflection in the counter. The counter reflection will show correct colors.
For anyone who gets the TV channel Decades, there is a little piece on the beginnings of neon on their daily show “Through the Decades” today. Next airing is tonight at 8:00 eastern.

"33" is a big debate to what it means.
It’s early 20th century typesetters code for “end of paragraph”. The original printer forgot to take it off and they decided to leave it there. And that is the rest of the story...
Quoted from aahgo:I picked up this animated sign recently. I need to replace the yellow/white tube around the Miller Lite. Anyone know a repair person in the Milwaukee area, or some place to get parts?
[quoted image]
That’s one of my favorites! Three-step animation on the golf swing. I had one and foolishly sold it to a buddy who’s big into golf. Figured I would find another...but to no avail so far.
Quoted from meSz:Send an email to [email protected] and tell them you need part #001715 (FC005587).
Antigo Zeon is located North of you in Antigo, WI. They will probably ship it to you unless you want to make the drive.

I miss mine.... do you think they sell all the pieces to build one from scratch?

Where did you get that drawing/“schematic” to find the part number on the broken golf neon? Does it have all the part numbers?
Be careful putting up neon signs on location…if it’s not a commercial grade transformer (which Chinese Neons are not), you may find trouble with the local fire Marshall.
Quoted from PhilGreg:In Canada they renamed it Belgian Moon. I guess it helps people figure out what type of beer they're getting, plus Labatt Blue was huge and has fallen out of favor, maybe they don't want people to think they're related.
What’s the background on why Labatt Blue has fallen out of favor?
Quoted from dirkdiggler:Out west here it's their (Labatts) other brews that are popular. ….., Rolling Rock…
[quoted image][quoted image]
Rolling Rock? I grew up about 30 minutes from Latrobe, PA, where the original “glass lined tanks” brewed it. That’s about all we drank in high school/college. They sold cases of 7 ounce painted bottles (yes, the bottles were painted, not wrapped in a decal) in cases of 42 bottles that were called “Super 42s”. We would get a few of those, fill up a plastic trash can with ice and water, and put those little bottles in. We would play euchre and gamble all night long crushing these 7 ounce bottles that were ice cold. Soooo good!
And then they sold to Anheuser Busch, they shut down the original plant, and moved production to New Jersey. Beer started tasting like shit. AB ruined the flavor and made it a chic yuppy beer through marketing. My friends and I, and everyone else in Western PA, have long since stopped drinking it. A few years later, I saw some reports that AB was trying to sell the Rolling Rock brand off because sales plummeted so hard. Ask anyone from Latrobe/Pittsburgh about Rolling Rock and they will tell you it’s terrible now, and probably get a “eff AB” comment along with it.
I’ve picked up a six pack here and there over the years for old times sake…I usually drink half a bottle and throw out the rest. I don’t even waste my money now. To see that it’s popular in Canada has me questioning two things: 1) as much as Canadians are known for their great taste in beer, maybe that’s not true, or 2) AB is producing the original recipe specs in glass lined tanks with good Canadian water instead of crap New Jersey water these days. I hope it’s the latter!
Anywho…I am shocked to see that Rolling Rock is popular in Canada.
Quoted from Liftserv:What area are you from? I grew up in the Irwin area and now reside in Greensburg.
Jim
Monessen….went to Penn State…took some summer classes at WCCC in Youngwood.
Quoted from Charles_Kline:Did you just get that in Denver? I considered getting it after it was relisted for the second time for the uniqueness of it but thought for the size it was a bit much.
Yes. It was a little more than I would have preferred to pay, but it’s in very good condition and I like the smaller sized neons. Picked it up at this “house”….
96542AA5-F0AF-450C-9FA6-DA5B7F24A139 (resized).jpegBB6DBB82-7ACD-4EF6-8A0D-675C8EDB9F2A (resized).jpeg9B8EA8D3-A3A0-4688-B4F1-E31955D29C29 (resized).jpeg0056174D-2366-49B8-9783-BA623A0AE313 (resized).jpegQuoted from meSz:Do tell more bout the house! Love that old shit!
It was built by some silver rush guy after he bought 300 acres “out in the country” and started developing the area in the 1800’s. Has been owned 8 times, and has been a bed and breakfast for the past so many years. 8 bedrooms. Some of the past 8 owners were famous for their times, one general from civil war. I can’t recall all the details. The guy who sold me the neon said he had it on a timer in the kitchen and used as a night light. He also said he’s about to put the house on the market to sell. He was still getting real estate agent appraisals. If anyone is interested, I can give you the sellers number. There’s also a stone carriage house out back. Here is the address: 1572 Race St Denver 80206. The house is on the National Registry of Historic Places, so maybe more info can be found on the World Wide Web with the address info. Oh, it’s 6400 sq ft and the house has been updated with all LED lighting and uses three zones of radiant hot water heat. With 22 inch stone walls all the way around, the owner said his utility bills are $850 a month. It was a very cool house to walk into!
