    Quoted from schudel5:

Had the Corvette sign for a while. Bought the cash sign yesterday as non-working. Fired right up when I got it home. I'm thinking there was something wrong with the extension cord he was using.
    [quoted image]

Looks good Mike. Only thing is I never ever used a extension cord....., just don't turn it off and it will be fine.

Not sure if it has been mentioned here but it is well worth a trip to the American Sign Museum in Cincinnati, OH. Went for the first time yesterday and was awestruck by their collection. They have a repair studio on-site to bring and keep these gems active. Here is a sample.

We use to be a nation who built great things filled with craftsmen... all I have to state on the subject.

I might be in the area the end of June, have to see if I can visit.

Yes, if you like neon signs it will not disappoint, also a good educational experience with the history. It's right off the expressway and a block away from the famous Camp Washington chili! Pick yourself up a 5 way and coney under a neon moon.

I've got a Bud sign where the blackout is cracking and light is bleeding through. From afar it's hard to notice, but it's easier to see up close and now that I know it's like that, I feel like I should try to fix it. Has anyone done something that before and have recommendations on products to use or steps to take?

Thanks for the suggestion and product recommendation. I've not done this before but I assume some prepping would be needed, like removing as much flaking paint as possible. Not sure what else, though, if anything. I like the idea of dipping it as it would make for some straighter lines but I would probably end up just painting by hand.

I just used black water base paint from hobby store, been like that for two years and still looks great.

No prepping really needed as the enamel paint will dry and, basically, adhere any flaking pieces to the tube. However, when I do it I dip the tubes as it looks so much better. I usually take the entire sign apart and clean it thoroughly. I take the tubes and run them under warm water and using a sponge and mild detergent to clean them. IF you have colored tubes do not do this as it can remove the color paint on the tubes.

I like the sign! The rest was just a joke. I apologize.

Bought Alien Star 2 weeks ago at an estate sale (downsizing) and on the way down to their incredible basement they had this sign hanging. I bundled it in with my new pin!

This thing is awesome. Apparently BS is the couple’s initials, but no word on if this was custom or just coincidence since they were big-time gamblers. They had a MASSIVE full-sized craps table. I woulda bought it if I had space. (If someone crazy here is interested I can give you their info) 586E5A37-A2ED-48DF-A5A4-8A7019824AEC.jpeg586E5A37-A2ED-48DF-A5A4-8A7019824AEC.jpeg7F196537-679E-4E90-82A3-BFDB91A08B5A.jpeg7F196537-679E-4E90-82A3-BFDB91A08B5A.jpeg

You simply cannot beat the beautiful glow of vintage neon. The purple and white has such a great color in person.

Picked up this neon for my FiL and the pull cord doesn’t work, it just powers on when plugged in. I pulled the transformer box open and the “button” was broke. Anyway to replace the pull cord switch? I suppose I may be able to add my own switch if it’s like a standard pin out. Little gray box, looks the same as the intensity button. Also the green button makes the sign bright or dim, normal?

Hi Mike, I've used Boney's Neon & Signs manufacturing and Service here in the South Bay. He's a one man band but does nice work. Perhaps a bit of a haul since he's in San Jose. His phone number is (408) 396-1096.

Pulled the switch off. It’s a 6 pin dpdt, middle two are common. I found a replacement that the legs are a mm off but it is otherwise the same.

    https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/e-switch/PBH2UOANAGX/805270

I have a few on order and I’ll use the original pull string.
