Do you have blackout paint already? If not you can use Rust-Oleum Enamel black/grey paint. A lot cheaper and easier to get will give you same result.

I bought some shelves so I could get the signs to the floor and still protect the glass. Now I need to figure out what goes where and where to hide the cords.

Responded to a craigslist ad that said, "Liquidating collection!" Listed pins, jukes, neon, fortune tellers, clocks, gas pumps.
Dude had tons and I mean tons of neon, said he was in the neon business for 40 years, unbelievable collection, but this guy did not want to sell anything, he asked top market prices and above for everything. He wants $100 K for this neon! It may be one of the coolest I've ever seen, way out of my price range for sure. Love the "web" style lettering, never seen that before.
Dude is in Martinez CA if anyone has a hole burning through to their pocket!

Yeah, I'm of the same mind, we talked for an hour or so, ended up getting a grail item from him (long closed local restaurant stuff) he claimed his landlord made him put up the ad. Should have taken more pics, he has some amazing neon, one huge " tropical isle" restaurant sign, just cool stuff.
I got his #,,will drop by with a beer someday.

I'm all about buying originality, especially when it comes to neons but in this case I could change my mind for a $97,500 difference....LOL.

Found this large sign for a hundred. Said he'd hold it with etransfer but not sure when I'll be in Edmonton next. Still have to pickup that Budweiser bottle being fixed as well. I wish gas wasn't $2/litre

Yes, Dan Driscoll, after talking to some of the old timers I'm starting to hear stories, apparently this guy has a real history in the hobby, hearing lots of interesting things, but I think I nailed it, dude doesn't want to sell anything unless it's for over market prices. Certainly his right. I guess he's holding out for some rich guy to buy him out...or the reaper, I know what my $ is on.

On the small size but I love it. Very well packed! The blue is very vibrant.

Real glass size on this is 5.5" by 12.5"

This arrived yesterday. Anyone know where to get shorter chains for these signs? I’m trying to find them online but I haven’t found the right kind. Nothing too thick. Just the kind that holds the average 20”x 16” or so sign. With a drop ceiling and the height of the pinball machines, some of the chains are too long for my setup.

Chains for neon signs were made to be long in order to accommodate a multitude of hanging heights. If the height of your sign needs less chain you're to just loop the chain and let the extra chain dangle. You can also cut the extra chain off if you don't want to see the extra chain. It's not a thick metal so it's relatively easy to cut.

Yeah just get a pair of plier cutters and cut the excess off.

Welp, we just buttoned up a new custom neon sign. This one's for a Cthulu-loving client and friend of mine, OuterDork !

This 4'x4' sign with alternating animation found its way home to OuterDork 's basement just this past weekend. I hope I'm not jumping the gun by showing some glamour shots here first, but The Neon Shop and I are pretty excited about this one.

OuterDork came to us with a request to design something for his home which he has affectionately deemed, "House Y'Ha-nthlei," named after one of the undersea cities of the Deep Ones in Lovecraftian mythos. Now OuterDork can rest easy, knowing the High Priest of the Great Old Ones is keeping a watchful eye over the basement layer.

Big thumbs up. Was packed veryyyy good. Tubes are the smaller kind… its not huge… but looks good IMO

Same with the Data East sign I picked up. Smaller tubes, packed crazy good.

I just bought this yesterday, and it has broken glass, but got it for a good price for $30. Question is what do you guys typically pay for a repair like this?

I typically never paid more than 20 for a broken sign unless it was a themed sign. But 30 isn't bad at all as worst case scenario you have a backup power supply for less then half as to what they cost new.

My recommendation is to look for another broken sign and swap the tube out you need. It will not be only cheaper but the tube will match better. If you get a new tube made it will stick out from the original tubes.

Another possibility is, there was a seller on eBay that sold different tubes (parted out signs) maybe search there.

Last resort, get local guy to make you one.

My guy charges $100 a break. He's half the price of fellow neon guys in the area

The outer circle is the common break point on those bluemoon signs, I bet you could find the "BLUE" wording section.

Some times you can get lucky and find one on ebay.
