Anyone ever buy those cheap ones they sell on Ebay? I've considered doing a custom one because they are so inexpensive vs the legit ones. Just curious how they look.

Quoted from SilverUnicorn:I only have 4, but I like them. The Yuengling and Williams neons are from Hong Kong, and sorry JeffF, you can really tell the difference in quality. Not knocking Gu or his work, but they just feel cheaper in comparison (and honestly, they cost a lot less as well, so for the price they are fine I guess).

I own several of them. They look nice, but they're small. The tubes are probably about a third the size of commercial grade neon.

I actually like them, my gameroom is not huge, so it's nice that they're a bit smaller (they're not tiny, though).
What turns me off a little is that they don't have that nice darker glow of old or more expensive neons, they're pretty bright.

There are a lot of nice signs pictured in this thread, but not many of them show how they are integrated into gamerooms. I have four neons in mine with two of the four purchased from that guy on eBay. I wish I had a pic to post here, because they fit perfectly into my gameroom.
I don't have any currently but would love to add something old to the game room. I have an old 1940s Gettelman beer sign that was neon originally but all the glass tubing is gone now.
This guy has some great stuff:

Here's a video I took a little while ago...
I like that these signs are not overly big. They fit perfect in our half basement.
Quoted from JeffF:Here's a video I took a little while ago.
That's a great look as you walk down the stairs into the gameroom and see two of the very best pinball sidebox artwork ever: Party Monsters and Creature. And I love the movie one-sheet of Joysticks, even though Playboy Playmate Kym Malin (who is featured topless in the movie) isn't on the poster. You certainly have maximum stuff crammed into that space. (Too many vids and not enough pins for me.)
Before I had pins I had a 7ft pool table in part of the basement with 7 neon's on the walls but when I switched to pins all my wall space disappeared. The ceiling is to low so I now have no where to put them.
Sorry I'm late to this party...
My wife surprised me with this neon sign at my 40th birthday party.

The art was done by world-famous comic artist (and pinhead) Ryan Claytor. (You know, the guy that did that cool T-Shirt art for Pinball at the Zoo). He and Julie planned this for months...going through many revisions until they got it just right. Then, they sent it off to Neon Leon in Grand Rapids, MI...who did a fantastic job putting it all together. A couple of our other friends picked it up, and sneaked it into the party without me noticing at all.
Here's the original art:

And here it is hanging in the gameroom:

It is gorgeous, and has unbelievable sentimental value for me. Quite simply, it is the coolest birthday gift I've ever received in my entire life. I've got the coolest wife and friends on the planet...

Great post, PMWolf! It was my first neon design and one of the coolest pieces of art I've had the pleasure of working on. I love this thing. Great pics of the neon and great wife to make this happen!
Everyone has shown some great neon signs. While not in a gameroom, to me the ultimate pinball (slot machines too) neon sign was the Bally "man / harlequin" on the West facing setback of Bally's Belmont Avenue main plant and, until 1983, Corporate headquarters. Pictures exist of the sign in various magazines including when John Popaduik helped save the sign when the building was demolished in the mid 1990's.. I have never seen a nighttime lit picture anywhere before. Here is the one I snapped with a color Polaroid camera in 1976. I hope Tim Arnold, who now has the pieces, one day repairs it and hangs it up in/on the PHoF. Otherwise, VFW Pinball just might recreate it.
Quoted from PromoJoe23:Would love to find a Flynn's neon sign if anybody has any leads.
Maybe you could commission that guy in China to do a small one...or a neon guy in the states to do a full-sized one.

Here are some neon signs I have. Picture aren't the best but .......

This neon is animated. In Pittsburgh there are these cars (called the incline) that climb the side of the mountain. When one car goes up the mountain the other cars goes down. When the sign is on the cars flash ti simulate that they're going up and down.

Nice neon (38"x32") made by Bud Light in 2010 when the Penguins one the 2009 Stanley Cup. The background is a large Stanley cup.

A very large (38" x 27") neon made by Labatt Blue.

Coors Light neon for the Pittsburgh Steelers and the one below is one of my favorite neons also by Coors Light. This is an animated neon. The hockey player is animated. The player flashes simulating that he is taking a slapshot. You can see it here: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xo4lds_coors-light-nhl-teams-motion-neon_tech

LOVE the animation on those signs. Very cool idea for the incline, and I must have watched that hockey player video about half-a-dozen times. I like that there are 3 stages to the hockey player's animation (not just two) and that when the puck is flying through the air it has a bit of a trail to it. Thanks for sharing!

Yeah it's my favorite of the signs I have. I actually bought the one pictured from a guy in Columbus. Drove 4 hours to get it as they just don't come up for sale too often. Fast forward 2 months and a guy emails me, as he seen a post I have on Pinside looking for the sign, saying he has one that is new in the box. Neat thing was, the guy is not a Pinsider but when he Googled the sign my Pinside post came up in the results. Turns out he lived 5 minutes from me so I wound up buying it from him and now have two of the signs. If anyone is interested in it let me know.
Wow. Cool offer. While I love the animation, neither hockey nor Coors is really my thing. Kinda hoping to commission my own one day (I'm an artist). But this would look great in a gameroom, though! Nice of you to offer it to the group, here, meSz!

Ryan, I'll be upfront as let's face it I am offering it up to make money back that I spent on it. I paid a lot for these signs as I loved the them, I am not a Coors fan at all! The fact it's hockey related and animated is why I had to have one. There are not a ton of hockey beer related neon signs out there not to mention ones of this size and one that has motion to it.
I put the neon on ebay https://tinyurl.com/ldxk39g for a ridiculous price in hopes to get a good offer but if someone on here really wants it I will sell it for $SOLD.

Gonna have to figure out how to get your wife and friends to swap out that Shadow speaker panel when you're not around.

Believe me, we've tried to talk some sense into him.

It was cracked during shipping, and I'm okay with the "original" panel. (Hey, I like Tim Curry, Ian McKellan, and Jonathan Winters, I guess...).

Nobody has ever been able to talk sense into me. Just look at my basement.

Oh man, you should have let me know. I can probably replace it for you, I think I might have an extra.

I know you would have replaced it...but seriously, it wasn't a big deal. I'm fine with the old panel.
Your new translite is completely kickass. That's all I need.

If you wake up in the middle of the night and go "oh shit, that speaker panel is actually uglier than the translite I replaced, what was I thinking?" then just PM me, I'll see it when I wake up.
Quoted from cfh:Animated too. the "bowl" lettering does a random spelling thing. Four feet tall, it's pretty big.

I'm a big neon sign fan - especially those with motion and I loved this one at the showcase! I have the basic eBay metal version, and this blew me away when I saw it. I really liked your Ice Cold Beer sign too. Very nice use of neon throughout the VFW!

Quoted from cfh:Here's one for guitar people. The "Fender" part flashes on/off. A huge sign: 4 feet tall and 5 feet wide.
Holy crap! I love that neon Fender sign!
I have a few but need a place to put them all. Great thread. I just got brand new a Jack Daniels one, have an old Rolling rock bottle, bud light, and Red dog neon signs.
I have the recognizer one that's been posted on this thread twice, but in "Tron 2.0" corruped yellow-green color. I know, I can't ever just follow the crowd.
She took years!
But, in all seriousness, she's an incredibly talented dancer. Couldn't find a photo of the proscenium without her.
