Looking for someone who can answer a few questions regarding Bally Victory Derby. I’m currently tearing down the machine for a through cleaning and re-alignment. (I had it working reasonably well prior to tear-down).

I’m a pin guy. I’m competent with electronics and schematics and have rebuilt a Turf King—so I’m not completely lost—but these one balls are a completely different animal! I have nothing but a schematic—so I don’t have much to go on. I’ll need to ask about the machines features, adjustments and payouts. Any insights specific to this machine would certainly be welcomed as would leads where I could find adjustment documentation.

Can anyone assist with future assistance???

Hello, I have a Victory Special, When I got it the main motor was broken...Bearings gone....Used a motor off a Belgium bingo..50 cycle but Voltage was good.....shuffles a little faster with the 50 hz. motor but plays fine for being made in 1946..I hope I can help you in anyway...My museum is closed until March 6 so I have a little free time....Troll's Bingo Pinball Museum...

Hi Bob,
I'm not your tech person you are looking for. I have EM games I like to work on. But I also own two Victory Derbys. One is in nice, complete condition. The other one was in a fire. It was hot enough to melt solder connections and most of the coils. But the backglass was intact. Even the paint on the case was sound, But everything including the playfield was covered in black soot. I started tinkering with the front door payout assembly on the first game. But I found some difference in the two games. The game in the fire does give me some references to work off of. If I can help you with any photos to help you get your game working let me know. Attached is the head glass to my game. I have submitted it to Pinside for their machine list gallery. Good luck on your game. Steve

Wow! Melted the solder joints! I'm sure there is a story there!

I very much appreciate you taking time to reply and send the pic --that glass is really nice. I'm hoping a can find one that nice. Mine is completely roached.

I've just started tearing my game down so I can start some much need cabinet repairs. I had the game working prior to tear down, so I'm sure i can get it all working when i reassemble. I've got a part, that was in a bucket, that came with game, that I'll need to identify. I'm sure your pics will help. About the only immediate need i have is determining the leather washer sizes that I need. From my quick look, I think i am going to need three.

As I get further along, I may ask for a pic or two from you to help identify the mystery part!

Thanks again Steve.

take a look at the victory special docs on ipdb.org - it has info about the adjustments and features.

many of the one-balls were released as pairs of games. One paid in coins, one paid credits. Most of the circuits were the same between the two games, tho sometimes components were in different places in the game.

the labelling on the schematics isn't too consistent, so it can be hard to figure out what is supposed to happen if you don't have a machine handy to look in and check. e.g. is "on selector disc shf. #3" the same unit as "horse selector disc shf #3". Comparing to the victory special schem may help if someone else drew that schematic and labelled things a little differently.
