After turning on my Pioneer receiver (about 8 years old), it's been taking longer and longer to start playing sound. It's up to about 10 minutes. In that time frame it also spits out bits of static as it's gearing up to play sound. I'm no audio tech, but I'm thinking it's in the throes of death. For the last couple of days, I've just left it on.

I've always liked Pioneer and still use two others in the house. I'm looking at the VSX531 as a replacement, but figured I'd check here first (I'm sure there are plenty of audiophiles on this site). I'm not looking for the best, but a good bang for the buck...

3 speaker minimum (5.1 preferred)
at least 3 HDMI inputs
bluetooth (WIFI if the price is right)
easy setup
price under $300 (a little flexible if that number only buys junk)

Hopefully this doesn't start a "which game is better" bash-fest. Just looking for insight.

Can't argue with that!! In more ways than one....

Of course not needed at all probably but you know what it's like trying to curb tech buying.

Exactly. This is just for the kids' tv/game room, so it only has a left/right/center. The 5.1 is just in case!
