That kind of money, take 4 or 5 days and go get it.

I went 785 miles round trip a week ago for a pin, long day but kinda fun

Are you able to get the seller to split the trip with you and meet you halfway? If money isnt a concern, maybe the seller can take a small road trip....?

Talk to DennisK - he had a large neon sign shipped and damaged in shipping

If cost is no issue, perhaps pay a friend/family member to go pick it up for you??

Watch the neon club thread, as I expect Ryan Claytor to reveal it over there very soon.

We are talking about a 2300 mile round trip, and that's just not in the cards. I need to find a shipping option. I have it on uShip and requested someone that has moved them before. The sign maker has used UPS and FedEx to pack and ship before, but I don't want to use them if I don't have to go that route. I'm going to keep exploring options.

They don't have a location near the sign maker, unfortunately. Thanks for the lead, though.

Will the seller pack it properly?
I once bought a neon sign, it was packed in a wooden box and then filled with Styrofoam

Shit. I'm in Michigan. I am off work so if you wanted to get a sprinter van rented for like $60 a day I could drive it down to you (looked at renting one to move a pin, most economical way over shipping).

I'll look at anything that gets it to me safely. But I'm not seeing options that don't start charging per mile after a set mileage allowance, that is less than half of what this would take round trip.

Yeah should have shipped it via freight given the size. I lucked out on the second go, the neon bender had a family member coming to the area and so just had them bring it to me.

I just bit it off and paid a dude to drive it down to me in his van. It’s here and it’s safe and I don’t have to beg Josh to make it again. Worth every penny.

Glad you got it safely. He does nice work!

Safest way is to pick it up yourself. Neon collectors Go Greyhound. Seriously. Start with a bicycle shipping box and use all of it around your neon. Greyhound station to station shipping is inexpensive and uses less handling from origin to destination. Also, I’ve found that their employees actually care about not damaging what they ship. Usually faster than the usual idiots ground shipping. Preferred method of collectors for long distance shipping.
