Sorry, but "Look at what JJP did" in terms of designing and building the game doesn't cut it as an excuse any more. At one time, yeah, that flew, but no more.

A delay in shipping can reasonably be excused. Waiting for parts, underestimating demand, manufacturing issues, software problems, whatever, I get that; it's kinda uncontrollable.

But the issue now is quite different, and it is 100% controllable.

Games are being made and shipped to people that ordered last month, while the people who sent JJP good money YEARS ago...you know, the people that trusted and believed in Jack...sit and wait.

And it pisses me off that Jack is bragging about a WOZ being in the "Smithsonian" while my game, ordered and paid for 19 months ago, is nowhere to be found. If he has the time and capacity to build games and send them to Washington of all places, he should find time to fill all the orders for which he has been paid, in the order in which they were paid.

#679 10 years ago

OK, geez, I'm real sorry. My update is: the game was paid for 5/12 and it still isn't here.

Specifically: Invoice 4477, 05/15/2012, "Due Date" 09/25/2013

Quoted from iamabearsfan:

Product = A+
Price = B (this could probably be debated, but the demand is there)
Technical Support = A+
Location = B (love that it is built in the US)
Staff = A
Setting Expectations Correctly and Communicate Accordingly = D
I think this sums it up. Others may have different/or harsher grading. I really think Jack got caught behind the 8 ball and over promised. So he was going to disappoint some group no matter what he did. I am in IT and my lord, if I had a dollar for every deadline that was missed. But in this case it all comes down to resetting expectations and communicating along the way.
But at any point, he would give people their money back. So what was the real harm? Maybe the $100 in interest you would have made during that time period? Let's face it. We all want this machine because it rocks!
For the record, I am waiting too. I have worked in small companies before and they don't always hit on all cylinders. To me, I would rather have this report card, than having a D or F in some other category.
I for one like what he is doing and think it has been great for the hobby. He just needs to dial back the expectations.
I can only hope he learns from his mistakes and pads his estimates in the future. That would solve a lot of his headaches.

This is only partially about how he sets expectations, but I generally agree with you about that. The bigger and more relevant issue is about the decisions he is making today to his benefit and to the detriment of his customers who trusted him and who provided the financing for his company, for free.

It is like when you have waited in a line somewhere and work your way up to first and the phone rings and the clerk takes the phone call, takes care of that person, and then takes another call and takes care of that person, and then the phone rings again and takes care of that person, and then the phone rings again and takes care of that person, then the phone rings again and takes care of that person, then the phone rings again and takes care of that person, then the phone rings again and takes care of that person, then the phone rings again and takes care of that person, then the phone rings again and takes care of that person, then the phone rings again and takes care of that person, then the phone rings again and takes care of that person, then the phone rings again and takes care of that person, then the phone rings again and takes care of that person, then the phone rings again and takes care of that person, until the phone stops ringing and only THEN it is your turn.

Are you ever going back to that store?

Quoted from Pinchroma:

There have been parts availability issues. Especially since nearly nothing in this pin is off the shelf. To the person who said that's no longer the case is wrong. We on occasion do run into parts depending on what part and where in the assembly process it is.
On another note, code update soon. Full update and it's a huge content addition along with bug fixes from 1.23 (lighting wonkyness)

The parts availability issues don't seem to be affecting JJPs ability to build games to send to the Smithsonian, or to Australia, or to send WOZ's to numerous distributors. Or, are the parts that have availability issues just the ones that go in ECLE's for people that paid for their games years ago?

Geez, slow day at work? Good for you, but it would take me about a month to figure out how to do that

Quoted from indypinhead:

purchase date...6/27/11
invoice #2472
Jen said a couple days ago that it will either be the end of this month or Feb.

Can I put $100 on April?

#739 10 years ago
Quoted from DCFAN:

If that was the case then I would probably be 2015. I hope you are wrong because I don't see how JJP could stay in business if they were that slow.

I'm not sure it's a matter of slow. It may be a matter of prioritizing the building of games for which they have new (paying) orders to keep the cash flowing. Building a game ordered and paid for years ago generates costs, but no new cash.

Don't know, just a thought.

#772 10 years ago
Quoted from herg:

For the reasons others have mentioned, it will never be very accurate, nor was it really intended to be. The more points that fall above the trend line, however, are a good sign that people will be getting their games sooner.

Hey Nerd Herg!

(I mean that in a good way)

Based on your analysis, what is your prognostication for invoice 2842?

Happy New Year, John!

Hey did you get the car painted or is that a new one?

I'm good, moved to the beach. It was cold yesterday; I even had to wear long pants!

I keep on opening this thread expecting to see an SHIPPING update, but all I see is stuff like this...

So, what does that tell you?

3 weeks later
#955 10 years ago

Could the guy with the analysis tool please post what that looks like as of now?

My guess is that it has flattened out considerably, since of the two variables, games shipped and time, only time has changed....

#994 10 years ago

OK, to get kinda back on topic, the last time someone posted here that a game has arrived was December 20, 2013. That is 54 days, if anyone is counting.

One explanation may be (A) that none have shipped in the last 52 days. Another might be (B) that there are 100 pinheads that got their games since Christmas who are just too damn busy playing their WOZ to post here about it.

I'm going with A.

#1002 10 years ago

O

Quoted from btw75:Thats the way I've read it as well. They can PLEASE hold mine until those fixes are done...

Quoted from JIM_Z:

I feel the same way.......

Jack, please ship mine while you are holding theirs up! Thank you.

Quoted from jadziedzic:

Wow, early March for a May '11 means I should see my June '11 order sometime in, perhaps, June '14.
Wouldn't it be refreshing if Jack came out and SAID up front "Hey, we're holding off on shipping games because of <x>", instead of waiting until the angry hordes bearing pitchforks have to (again) storm castle JJP?

Yes.

Quoted from Audioenslaved:

It would be nice if Jack moved the 22 Australian machines up the line so the 70 odd people that were affected by the complete and utter shambles this is can move forward with maximum compensation! I know it will disappoint 22 other customers that would be infront of us but if they have heard the bs that happened down here I doubt they would have an issue waiting the extra week to get their machine... After all it's 6-10 weeks on the slow boat from the US...

You cannot be serious. "Complete and utter shambles"????? That's a bit dramatic, don't you think? Did someone drop a nuke on Melbourne or something? THAT would be complete and utter shambles.

"Move forward with maximum compensation!" ???? What in the world are you talking about?

As I understand it, you people paid money to a crook, and the crook made off with your cash. Don't you have police and lawyers and courts in Australia? Yeah, getting ripped sucks, but, other than the extent to which Jack received all or part of your money, how is that Jack's problem, and more importantly, how is that my problem and the problems of others who are waiting?

I've heard the "BS" from down there, and while I am sympathetic and I know you must be frustrated, I would absolutely positively have an "issue" with waiting longer while my game gets shipped to AU because AU is in "complete and utter shambles" and Aussies are in the streets demanding "maximum compensation" for their "BS issue".

G'day Mate.

Quoted from DCFAN:

My latest update for a Feb. 2012 ECLE order is an early May delivery.
It still does not seem that JJP have picked up production back to the levels they had back in September and early October. Why is it so hard to make 50 games a week at least? It has been about 11 months since production started.

If your Feb 2012 order is now "promised" for early May, I guess I am looking at July or August for my May 2012 order.

That's quite different than the emails I have with November and January/February dates/promises/commitments, and it's a lot different than the 90 days-ish from Jack a mere 6 weeks ago.

Missing 90 days-ish by 90 days-ish is like three-putting from a foot.

What a cluster.

Quoted from SadSack:

I find your definition of a cash flow problem completely in error.
A cash flow problem is defined as a shortage of cash while providing a good or service that will be paid for at a later time. Running out of money after a product or service has been prepaid is NOT a cashflow problem. Perhaps you should review the language you pretend to have mastered. I think you are experiencing both math and English problems.

Sadsack, if there is a way for you to retract that post, I think you should go for it.

A cash flow problem doesn't need to have a good or service. It doesn't have to involve anything prepaid.

I can, however, find the correct and very succinct answer in your last sentence:

"RUNNING OUT OF MONEY after a product or service has been prepaid IS a CASHFLOW PROBLEM."

In other words, when you have more going out than coming in and you can't pay your bills.

I'll bet my JJP refund check on it.

#1475 10 years ago

But I truly believe they are pumping them out as fast as they can.

That is like going into a restaurant, ordering your food, paying for your food, and after sitting there for a week, watching people that came in after you order, eat, and go home, and then telling your wife to hang on, the meal will be great, and after all, we're almost there, the chef is pumping them out as fast as he can.

Do you realize there is a year ahead of you in line?

#1476 10 years ago
Quoted from DCFAN:

When did she say yours would be made?

Geez, does it matter what she SAID? Seriously. Jack SAID they would ALL be shipped in "90 days-ish" 90 days-ish ago.

Watch what people do, not what they say.

#1478 10 years ago
Quoted from DCFAN:

The amount of months ahead of his order is not very relevant since the bulk of the WOZECLE orders happened between Jan. 2011 and July 2011. They do not have more than 300 to get to Feb 2012 orders.
If they had a factory running with a reasonably full crew then they could be finished in 6 weeks. Obviously there has been a lack of urgency. Parts supplies and cash flow are just excuses at this point.
Jack said that they have to crank out part of the Australian order next month.

Two problems..."If they had a factory with a reasonably full crew...." and "Jack said..."

Actually, three problems... if they have 300 to go to advance to Feb 2012 orders, that still leaves X more to get to June 2012 orders, which is at, or closer to, the end of the line, not February. And how many have they cranked out in the last 90 days-ish? We've heard about 15 or 20 here in the last 90 days-ish. Even if it was 50-ish a month, the last one wouldn't be done until Halloween-ish.

#1486 10 years ago

Whether I have one on order isn't relevant to an opinion I expressed.

You said that you "believe they are pumping them out as fast as they can". I provided an analogy in an attempt to illustrate that "pumping them out as fast as they can" isn't good enough after years of trying. If "as fast as they can" is, say 1 a month, or 10 a month, are you good with that? If the guy that is painting your house has been there for a year and a half and he tells you that he is slapping it on as fast as he can, are you good with that?

But since you asked, I had two on order. On the last one, I tried to sell it here same day as Zippy, and neither of us had a nibble at $7500. Now, I am waiting for a refund. Stay tuned on that outcome.

#1492 10 years ago

YAY! Mine finally arrived!

It is check number 34859, in the amount of $7,500.

Even a tee shirt gets an invoice number so it's not 437 machines to go and to be honest #2880 is the invoice number as I remember but it could have been #2580. I bought a day or two after the closeout of the WOZLE prepurchase when someone else cancelled so I know I'm near very near the end.

Any updates on those waiting for their T shirt to arrive?

Quoted from Millz:

Per Jen on Tuesday, they are producing 7 to 9 games per day, with around 275 LE's to go. Also, they are looking to increase production to up to 15 per day, which may move the date up. My late October 2011 order has now fallen into July. What is the over/under on all LE's being delivered by the end of July?
Hobbit is currently "on schedule".

Quoted from vid1900:

That is kick ass!
Did you take pictures of the workers building machines?
That would silence many of the naysayers.

Reminds me of a scene from one of Trump's books. He was looking for financing to build an Atlantic City casino. He needed the dough, badly and wanted to impress the lender consortium. They wanted to see the site. Ooops! It was a big vacant lot! So, he hired like 100 big pieces of earth moving and grading equipment, just for the afternoon, to go to the site, and start digging and moving dirt around. . Didn't matter what or where, just so long as there was noise and exhaust and asses and elbows everywhere to give the illusion of bigtime progress being made.

He got the loan.

#2008 9 years ago
Quoted from Pimp77:

The only excuse at this point would be cabinets. There should be only EC versions being built now if the cabinets are built.

How far does that excuse fly? He knew he needed 1,000 of those cabinets, and he knew it three years ago, and didn't get them. If the cabinet vendor had stepped on the gas and really cranked up production to, say ONE cabinet per day, Jack would already have already had the cabinets on hand.

Quoted from jlm33:

No wonder some people bash JJP when WoZLE ordered in 2011 are still unobtainium while standards ordered 3 years later (!!) are already delivered. What a disgrace.

Yep.

#2105 9 years ago
Quoted from chessiv:

"NEED SHIP UPDATE FOR WOZ.."
So discussing why machines aren't shipping is on topic. Also discussing general intel on the subject is on topic. Questioning validity of intel is also on topic. Again, JJP recently promised all machines would be done by now. They aren't. Discussing why they aren't is on topic.

On your other comment where you said you were amazed that anyone believed anything coming out of JJP, I agree totally. It's like the that boy crying Wolf or the sky is falling Pinocchio story...but after getting, um, "mislead" for years, why do people count on anything they say? It's like, I know they "misled" me, but this time, I really think they are telling the truth.

#2110 9 years ago
Quoted from dgarrett:

I see no benefit to sharing anything on my order # or shipping date. It doesn't help anybody, its always stale as soon as you get it, the only current update is from Jen or Jack who run the factory and shipping. Why rely on anything else if you are a buyer?

Come on, you can't be serious. Your invoice number and delivery date give people two concrete, honest, indisputable pieces of information that can help them triangulate when they can expect their games. The "factory" said that all LE's would ship by beginning of April. Your info is far more reliable and helpful, and even if not, what's the problem with sharing it?

#2231 9 years ago
Quoted from wxforecaster:

Well mine (2510) arrived a couple weeks ago. Assuming I wasn't the first in my lot and 2552 isn't the last in this lot... at least 42 games in a couple weeks is not bad production at all considering where we've been.

Mr. Forecaster, every invoice number does not equal one WOZECLE. An invoice could be for a piece of gum, a T shirt, a ball, a piece of PF glass, a regular WOZ or 100 WOZ's.

If every invoice number was a game, then there would have been 2509 games sold by JJP before you bought yours. Extremely unlikely, right?
