Hey guys.
I'm working on getting a friend's Mayfair working and I can't get the random light at the top rollover lanes to light. The schematic shows that this runs through the 0-9 unit in the head.
Low and behold, I found a white wire with black marks that was disconnected... but I can't tell from where. There's no obvious place for it. It's actually a double wire and looks like it should go to the coil in the upper right of the unit, but there's already a wire there.

If anyone can post a pic of their Mayfair 0-9 unit, I would greatly appreciate the help.

Thanks!

Sounds like it's this wire. Does the random light come on if you set the game to 5 balls?

Nope. It's already on 5 ball. That wire is white/blue.
I suspect it's a ground wire. One of those that is sometimes soldered to a small copper tab that gets screwed to the metal housing. Just need a pic to verify.

Duh! you're right!

Verified.
I found a bit of the broken tab still under the hex machine screw holding the coil bracket. Light works again.

Thanks!

Do you by chance have a oscillator or perhaps a spot, middle of the motorboard that looks like somethings missing?
Im going thru trying to isolate a problem with the 0-9 unit that had a bad resistor. it was soldered on the backside of the unit.
It definately goes from the 0-9 unit to the oscillator. This is a game with 3 coin entry which makes a big difference Ive found. Game is King of Diamonds.
good luck!

I have a Mayfair, but not home now. Will try to take a pic and post later tonight. Pm me if I forget.

Pics of what I think is the 0to9 unit. Only unit in head not marked.

Sorry quality not better. Had to lean sideways over another machine.

Thanks for the photos in any case.

This is the connection (and the tab) that was missing/broken on my machine.
I just crimped the wires onto a spade-style connector and slipped it under that machine screw. Worked great!
