I just purchased a new Stern Machine (PotC/2006) with the SAM system. I have had whitestars and Spike2's, but this is my first SAM. Anyway, I was going to update the gamecode, and read the manual. It says that I simply set SW8 to ON, and then either re-power or reset the machine to get started. When I do so, I get the message "12V Not Detected" and it just hangs there until I set SW8 to OFF, and reset the machine. (I checked and the Boot Rom is installed in the socket).

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Can you take a picture of both boards with the power on and the door closed? Game plays fine?

Kinda suggests that the 12v fuse is blown, but shouldn't be if you have sounds.

It’s been a while, but I thought you set the dip switch, insert usb drive and turn the game on, then follow instructions.

The machine works fine. Coils, sounds, lights. Everything seems to work fine. Coin door is closed and SW8 is in normal/off position. Here are the pictures of the two boards.

Not as easy for the camera to show it, but all of the RED LEDs are lit, and the series of five GREEN LEDs in the center of the power board are lit as well.

Don't do that. Follow the instructions or this video.
