So I did a lot of cleaning and buffing of my topper flasher over the weekend. All good, but when I finally decided to play again, I get an "open door" error message. Once I open the door the machine seems to factory reset. Annoying because you have to reset it to free play every time you turn it back on. It also resets all high scores. First thought: Batteries....unfortunately that's not the case. Did some digging but couldn't find much in the forum. Somebody mentioned that you have to change some setting?
Any help would be appreciated. Oh and while we are on it, what is the open socket on the main board for? Middle right on the attached pic. Total newbie, so apologies up front if this is obvious.

Quoted from generalgman:

Board has lots of alkaline damage. Look at the 40 pin chip(MC6802P). Top left hand pins full of green corrosion.

Unfortunately you are 100% right. Took the board out and took a closer look.
Autsch. Pretty bad.

After some cleaning per terryb's guide it looks better, but will need some more repair work. Middle contact of battery pack seems tp have very little contact to board, I can measure it, but doesn't look great.
Where am I supposed to measure the battery voltage to?

I guess it was too late last night. I have a hard copy of the original manual and was going through the schematics but couldn't find it. Now it's right there, lol. Thanks. Great link btw.
Now I just have to decide if I want to do it myself or send it out. Don't really trust myself, there are a couple guys on here who do a better job....decisions.
Oh and SuperBowl weekend is coming up.....have a couple buddies who would be really disappointed if it is not up an running. Debating to put it back in and sending it out for repair after.

Big shout out to Chris Hibler. He took care of my board. Looks beautiful. Just got it delivered to my office and can't wait to put it back in tonight.
