Hi All, I've been working on getting my Aladdin's Castle running properly. Im having an issue with my 00-90 unit in the backbox. The right side bakelite board is off kilter and wobbles back and forth. One of the feet in the mechs makes constant contact with the board but the other does not. I pretty sure that I'm supposed to have a couple of spacers in there to keep it mounted flush to the left side board. Can someone please take a look at theirs and tell me what I'm missing? Also as long as I'm asking newb questions, who can answer for me why there is a pair of 455 bulbs in the cabinet and what do they do, Thanks

Yes, you are missing a spacer and a long machine screw that goes through the spacer to secure the upper board to the stepper unit baseplate. Hopefully someone can post a picture of this stepper showing the parts missing from yours - sorry I don't have such a pic.

The two relays with the #455 lamps are delayed turn-off relays. One is an anti-cheat relay. If you drop the machine to try to rack up free games, a weighted bounce-switch will activate the anti-cheat relay and shut off the machine. The lockin circuit for the relay is in series with the #455 lamp. As soon as the lamp winks out for the first time, the lockin circuit for the relay is interrupted and the relay drops open. Thus, the lamp provides the delayed turn-off function.

The other delayed turn-off relay is for the OVER THE TOP feature. When either player rolls over the score, this relay will pull in, and light the OVER THE TOP section of the backglass while sounding a buzzer. This goes on for several seconds until the #455 lamp winks out for the first time and the relay drops open.

First time I've seen pictures of a Bally with factory "non-cloth" (wildcard, there are so many technical things it could have been insulated with, varies) insulated wire used throughout the machine. Very interesting. Cloth wire is cool and all but this sure looks cleaner! Less stuff for the dirt and grime to sink in.

Thanx TimMe, can you tell me if its ok to boyscout the spacer out of a bic pen or similar plastic tube? I dont want to run the risk of rubbing the trace off the board. Ive got machine screws and nuts/washers in spades. I to was suprised to see the factory rubber insulated wires too Otaku. Makes it alot easier to trim the wires back a few mm

Thanx psd4me! Looking at yours it seems im missing a few more pieces than just the spacer. Am i correct in assuming this unit only controls the match function? The match works on the game but doesnt light up. Also does anyone know where i might get a diagram for the unit? The manuel doesnt have this one in it.

One side is match and the other side is usually "random" events such as alternating lit things that go back and forth between each other with each 10 points scored (+ match 30v side of things (if I'm not mistaken) since you can't send that through the lightbulbs of course)

Some pics here from 1976 Bally parts catalog. Aladdin's Castle was basically the next game after this catalog came out, so I guess yours is the same as those pictured.

AC doesn't have the switch on it so you aren't missing any parts (other than spacer). Mike

Thanks for the link Jeffc. I hadnt found that before, very helpful. Psd4me thanks big time for going the extra mile double checking and adding that pic! Any chance you or someone else can snap a pic of the wiring on their left flipper coil? Mine is a little hacked. Ive got a fresh coil to replace this one but im unsure what goes where.
