As my understanding goes, the "yellow clip" is used when the coin door is open and is for the purpose of activating the power so one doesn't have to hold the switch in whilst in test mode. The coin door should have a plate behind it to do this very job!!

Fair enough, if it was me i would make up a plate to fit or track down an original part though.
