So there is no gate that is comparable that would work? Hard to believe this part was only made for this machine, wonder why they didnt use one from a previous game.

I really hope someone runs with the offer to make more of these! Many folks would buy one including myself!

Wow this is my original post lol. I think I have an extra Danger Zone switch. Had 2 with my CP, but of course only used one. It is probably somewhere in my parts.

Sold. I will take it. I am sure I can have them remade and show Rick at PPS for approval, then we can all get one!

Small world. Just realized you're one town up from me. Shout out from another ATL suburb.

Just upgraded to version 1.6, and my game has the switch!!!! Removed the post and I'm now in business for into the ropes!!! Yes!

FYI, 1.6 is not needed to utilize switch. Switch worked fine for me on 1.4 before I upgraded to 1.6

#58 5 years ago

Thanks for the info. I had 1.3 before 1.6.

SOLD If anyone wants a gate project I have 6 extra gates and the plans and switches to build your own. You will only need wiring to connect to harness that is open underneath play field. I am even throwing in two jump rope mods. SOLD

Well dummy me didnt realize I already have the gate inside the machine!! Its installed and works great. The center post has to come out for it to have any chance of being utilized. What tool to remove?

1/4” hex bolt remover

I used masking tape around the post, then used pliers to loosen it, then finish unscrewing by hand.

That way you don't need to remove anything above it.

since the originals are long sold out does anyone know which stock Bally/Williams gate can be used to make this switch mod?

#67 5 years ago

Yes this one. I have no idea which machine it was for. I had this in a drawer of parts. The switch is on side instead of the center. The mount holes are offset. It fits perfectly. Works like a charm.

Some detective work is on order!

#69 5 years ago

Man I have tried. I have looked at most of the parts supply companies. Now I am just looking at different games just to see if I can spot that gate switch.

#70 5 years ago

i would just be happy to find a 2-3/4" center to center gate that i can attach a switch to - something from a similar age machine should do if i can find one

looked at all the ball gates on Marco and none of them have dimensions on them ... much sadness

#71 5 years ago

We will keep looking. If I can find which game this is from I will post it up.

#73 5 years ago

hah, that's a funny one looks like it comes with extras tho,
i have looked over the 12 machines i currently have here and none of them have a 2-3/4" gate on them
if i find a part number for a gate that is actually available & is the correct width i will post

#74 5 years ago

I am on your mission also fellas. We will overcome!

Its supposed to be active/work in fight mode. And from what i've heard it works in 1.6 rom revision

#77 4 years ago

Yes I go into fight mode and put the ball in there and it does nothing. It is suppose to do music like the jump rope etc when in the mode. I am wondering if I need a different software version.

#78 4 years ago

it is supposed to activate against the ropes when it gets triggered in game play. Mine is not in front of me right now.

I made an extra danger zone switch for 30.00 shipped if anybody wants it. It seems to work good, I am running 1.6 and it registers as switch 73. It is only active during fight mode and when triggered it makes a short tune and makes the boxer stunned for l say 5 seconds. Just mount the switch, you have to remove the middle post and feed the wires through the playfield and connect it. I left the connector off so it is easier to feed the wires through the playfield. Green and white wires match the green and white on the connector under the playfield.

@mzhulk, do you still have the ability to make a danger zone switch? Or does anyone have an idea where I can get a switch?

#81 3 years ago

I am only just learning of this magical switch now. Whats funny is, I got my machine 2 month ago and looked at that spot and thought to myself "that seems weird, is something missing?" However I never looked into it until today.

If someone has the plans for how they built it and would be willing to share I sure would appreciate that. I'm game to take on the challenge. Never built a part before so why not. I just want to make sure it emulates as close to the real experience as possible.

Also, I've been looking for the story on why this switch was left out in production when it seems they completed every other aspect of this feature. Does anyone really know why? I guess why question it? It's cool you can just plug a thingie in and get more from thew game.

Quoted from tom_:

Does anyone really know why?

COST... and yep it is plug and play. The owners club have a couple of threads that show several different configurations of parts to make one. I believe if I remember that I posted one of them. check it out.

Does anyone know where I can get my hands on the elusive Danger Zone switch?

I would like to buy a danger zone switch as well if anyone has one made.

Found This Gate Assembly at PPS. It is under AFMr. It looks like a direct fit because of it’s universal mounting. $25 Part no A-20755

I bought this gate from Planetary Pinball to try it out. It might work but it will need some bending. The sides are not at the same height from each other (see picture). I think I'll try to straighten out the forked side and then do a 90 degree bend in line with the other side. That will make it wider as well. Hopefully the gate wireform is wide enough to not allow a ball around it without activating the switch. I'll test it out and see if it needs widening.

So I found this (old) post about a switch & gate assembly for one of my favorite games.
So I thought i'm going to recreate the bracket in fusion 360 so you could have it lasercut or cut it out yourself.
I searched on the internet for info and dimensions and I made a first version.
I also found out by looking in the manual that the wire form is for sale at Marco specialties.
Manual nr: 12-7405. Marco: https://www.marcospecialties.com/control/keywordsearch?SEARCH_STRING=12-7405

My question at this point would be if someone would be willing to measure some things from the original bracket for me so I could verify.
I would call it a small collaboration for the community.
I would like to post the .DXF and the fusion 360 files so anyone could recreate the bracket.

I wonder if this would hold up as a 3d printed part if thickness was increased slightly

Our CP came with the Danger Zone Switch installed.

What dimensions do you need verified?

IMHO the Actuator Wire is going to be the harder part to duplicate.

Please send me a PM & I'll do whatever I can to help, pretty neat feature IMO.

It's been a month and I bought a really nice Champion Pub, looks HUO.
It came with the danger zone switch installed, so I measured it.
I recreated the bracket and made a DXF & STL for it. And included the source files for it.
I also made a BOM (bill of material) with all the part numbers needed to recreate it (mostly Marco specialties).

I made a zip file for it and share it from google drive: https://drive.google.com/file/d/15s-OZa8-0lHKp2qoA0OTv9JiwZjqhsZr/view?usp=sharing

I hope people can now make their own danger zone switch, as this is a very cool feature!

-René

p.s if you recreated it, it would be nice to make a picture and share it in this topic so we/I could see the result .
