NBA Fastbreak
Bally, 1997Hi all-
I am a relative novice at pinball and repair. However, I was performing a single lamp test on my NBA Fastbreak and for every lamp I test, two lamps light up (the correct lamp and another lamp). The other lamp is different for each lamp selected.
Any advice on how I should start troubleshooting this issue?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Just doing some more testing.
One thing I noted is that the second lamp is always from column 8 in the lamp matrix:
Light Alley Oop, Left In the Paint, (S)HOOT, (3)PT, 3(P)T, 3P(T), Ball Launch, Start Button
Looking at the manual it appears that Q97 could be causing this. I will test that transistor tonight.

The columns are pulsed and if one is staying high then when any other switch is closed the one in the same row in that column will also light. So you're right on with your diagnosis.
Q97 tests shorted. I just ordered some TIP107s, so will replace it and report on what happens once they arrive.
