Okay I need some help for a friend. NBA Fastbreak Error defender mech broken. On start up the motor will go all the way left and push hard, then go back towards the center and shimmy back and forth very quickly before returning to the far left position. The motor will eventually warm up. the motor will spin and work in both directions when tested with a battery. It should be something that tells the motor which direction to go. I see in the manual it says the motor enable and motor direction run through drive gates U3a, U3b, U3c and U3d but I can not locate these. Can anyone point me in a good direction.
24 opto board has been replaced, defender switch board has been replaced and the high current driver board. He has also swapped CPU boards and driver boards from a Monster Bash with the same results. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Could be dirty optos on the defender mech...
Under the mech is a board with u shaped optos that a little metal flange from the defender arm passes through. It sounds like the opto isn't registering to tell it that is passed through.
