Hey everyone, so I've been searching for NAVL shipping quotes online but I haven't had any luck until I came across this forum, which led me to join this site and make this post. Now I know that this site is for pinball machines, but I am actually looking to have a claw machine shipped to me and I didn't know where else to ask and from what I've read on here so far, everyone on here seems to be pretty knowledgable about NAVL and has experience with using them. So I'm looking to have the machine shipped from Georgia to Southern California and I'm curious as to how much that will cost. From what I've read so far from others on threads here, I saw that 2 people had pinball machines shipped either to or from California. One person had a pinball machine shipped from Massachusetts to California and the other person had a pinball machine shipped from NorCal to Miami and they both said it cost about $475-500 to ship. Does that sound like an accurate NAVL shipping cost for that distance? Its about 2,100 miles so I am still unsure how much it will cost for that distance even though it is domestic shipping.

Yes, that's what I got recently for approximately 2,300 miles. But the Seller chickened out so I got refunded. However, a claw machine is different. Taller I assume? As well seems more vulnerable. Just make sure you put TRUCK THIS SIDE only on the back. I would advise plywood to cover the glass frame. Them machines are huge, make sure it has some armor to make the trek...

Welcome, sounds about right to me.

Glad to hear that's an accurate quote of how much it will cost, I was worried that it was going to cost a lot more. You are right that a claw machine is different though, a pinball machine only has a glass cover over the play field while a claw machine has 3 glass windows. And they are also taller than pinball machines as well like you said. This one isn't as big as the ones that you usually see in grocery stores or other locations in terms of width or depth, but it is pretty tall. Its 81" tall, 26 1/4" wide, and 34 1/2" deep, so its definitely pretty tall standing at over 6 feet, but I don't know wether or not that will make the shipping price more expensive. The seller said that they have NAVL come and wrap the machine in shrink wrap, use corner board protectors, and cover the machine with blankets. So I don't think I'll be able to have it covered with plywood, but that would be a good idea though. I saw others in threads on this site saying that the blanket method is how their pinball machine was shipped by NAVL, so I guess that's just how they ship arcade machines. The seller did say that you can buy insurance that covers physical damage for an extra $35 though, would you recommend buying that since it doesn't appear that plywood will be used?

For a pin a base is about $375. Add $50 or so if it's rural, $100 if you have steps, $30 for every $1000 in insurance over $1500.

    $375 for 2.1k+ miles?

I've never been charged on mileage that I'm aware of. Shipped like 25+ games. I've paid more for games shipped from S. Georgia then California.

How much is game? Is it located near a big city? Are there steps? Those are the factors I'm aware of.

It's possible the base fee is based on distance, like a region code, but that fee might be 355-415. 375 seems like a pretty standard starting point almost anytime I shipped.

Insurance adds up and it's unlikely you would have a complete loss . $1500 is probably enough to cover most damage that would incur in shipping. I've taken more on really prized games, but haven't really had any issues.

Yes pay for insurance without question!

California to Michigan (2,400 miles) with $3k in insurance coverage was just under $500.

I recently shipped a game from Connecticut to Ohio, approximately 700 miles. I did nothing, two guys came in my house, took the pinball outside (ground floor) and put it in the truck and wrapped it. I believe they just dropped it at the new owners house, curbside. $360

Mine went over 3000 miles so was stated it cost more for that, but it sounded like anything less then that was about the same. With $1500 insurance was about $500 shipping.

My question is: aren't there any claw machines for sale in California? It seems like Captain's Warehouse auctions always has them and they sell for next to nothing. There is an auction tomorrow (March 25th) in Anaheim. I would check that out before I paid to have a claw machine shipped from the east coast.

NAVL ships pinball machines. Any shippers that also will ship? Any shippers to stay away from? Its a numbers game and I want to get a few quotes out to a buyer.

    #14 3 years ago

Yes, stay away from NAVL. You've been warned!!

I'm pretty sure he is not joking. I think he had a terrible experience with them. I'll let him elaborate.

I had one bad experience (my first) and six good NAVL experiences. I don’t think distance determines much of the shipping cost. Most of mine have been $450-500 shipped. I got one quote from Michelle two months ago to ship 88 miles. It was still $455. Michelle wrote, “It would be $455.50, you know this is only 88 miles right?”.

Most of the LTL shipping that I do, distance really isn't too much of a factor in price.
Weight plays less of a factor than you would think too, but it does factor in a bit.
There are different freight classes based on volume, density and weight.

    National Motor Freight Classification https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Motor_Freight_Classification

    Just looked it up and:
Games - Coin or Currency Operated = 84180
Density - pounds per square foot, 4 but less than 7 = Class 125

If you are picking up or dropping off from a residential vs. commercial address, need a lift gate on either end matter a lot.

You'll save hundreds delivering to a commercial address with a dock.

What I need to know is if I'm in Washington, and there is a pin in say New York, how do I get someone to crate it and take it to a FedEx freight hub for me.
Like if the seller doesn't want to or know how, and I don't want to fly out to do it.

Is there a service like that?

    Thanks!!!

Whatever you do don't ship with Uship! You might think you could save some money, but there is no guarantee you will get your shipment and even when it does arrive chances are it will be damaged and arrive at 1:00 AM. Uship is only a middle man and they don't take any responsibility for their shippers.

Contact Michelle, tell her exactly what you need. They will take if from there. Pay for insurance!

You can save a little $$ with STI especially if you are rural by picking your game at your local hub, for me it’s around $90.00 savings. The upside to this beyond saving money is that it keeps your game from getting banged around all day on a local delivery truck. If you decide that you want to do this you must set it up with Michelle in advance

One other thing is the STI 2 for 1 shipping rate is a really good deal! So if you are thinking of doing a two game purchase from somebody you can have the second game shipped for roughly an additional $40-$50 depending on insurance coverage.

FYI if you are looking at having a game shipped with STI right now with roughly $10,000 insurance coverage, plan on spending around $600.

Thanks tigzzz , pinballinreno and Concretehardt for all the tips.

I have a quote from unishipers for $400, but will be a good thing to keep in mind for the future.

Beltman will be my next quote.

    Thanks again for the assistance.

So approx $500 for shipping seems to be the normal rate? I got a quote from Michelle at Beltmann for $507 and from someone else for $510. I was hoping shipping would be a little cheaper, I'm already a bit over budget, and the pin itself is only $2,300, so the shipping alone is a pretty big chunk of the cost. But it is what it is. As a newbie here though, I just want to make sure this is a good quote. For a 250 lb pin, coming from and delivering to residential addresses, so liftgate needed on both ends. $2,300 value. Coming from Detroit area to Madison Wisconsin, about 416 miles. Does $500 range sound like a good shipping quote. I guess I thought the distance wasn't that great from Detroit to Wisconsin so the cost would be a little cheaper. But I guess the distance doesn't matter much? Should I shop around for a cheaper quote or is this as good as I'm going to find? Thanks!

I paid little under 500 from NY to Michigan fall 2021 so that's the basic price.

    What’s your time worth?
Plus gas / wear on vehicle
What would you expect to get paid to do it?

Fair questions. And I couldn't do it myself. I would need to bring help. And I probably don't have the right vehicle. Ok. Sounds good. I just wanted to make sure those quotes were in the ballpark. I wasn't really sure what to expect. Thanks.

That seems to be the going rate then. Good to know. It's good to know, as I look at ads, that the distance from me won't make much difference in terms of shipping cost. Thanks.

Hey all. There is a Monopoly in Virginia that I'm considering getting shipped to Seattle. The owner doesn't know much about moving/packing/shipping a pin. Do these shipping/moving moving companies come into the house and get the machine outside for packing/loading or does the owner need to do that first? The owner is going to need someone to do this for him. The pin needs to come up about 10 steps out of the basement into the garage.
