Anybody happen to have a Grand Prix translite for sale? All the usual suspects are sold out at this time.

Still looking for this. Anybody have a lead?

Recently joined the club, glad to finally have a Nascar machine in the house!

Back lit short track and uv outlane are the only mods so far.

Does replacing burned transistors, coils, diverter and updating the code count as mods?

Me too!! Are you also trying to convert a NASCAR to a Grand Prix?

#958 4 years ago

Thank goodness Harvick signed for 4 more years.
Running out of current drivers on the BG
Jr who???

I did those 2 mods also. Keep in mind my Leg Lights and cup light. I have white on mine.

Since the test car is a little blah, has anyone put the Grand Prix indy car in their machine? Does it work with the theme or is it weird?

I think it would look weird myself.

Whoa! 4 machines! What's the story behind that pic?

Brian

#966 4 years ago

Looks like they are being gutted. Are you going to be selling parts? Or are you going to make these NASCAR pinballs great again?

#967 4 years ago

Let's hope they can get them working again. If not I see a lot of good parts. If they are just being parted out let me know.

#968 4 years ago

Someone offered to buy all four so couldn't say no. 3 are worth saving. Fourth would be players grade and probably not worth it

Ricky Bobby conversions!

#970 4 years ago

Just bought a NASCAR pin from a pinsider. It was home use only for about 10-12 years and has minimal wear. It plays great and I look forward to years of play. Thank to all of you on the forum who helped sell me on this great pin!

On my NASCAR, plastic part -36 is not installed. It is the inverted L-shaped piece shown in the photo.

Does anyone know of a reason why it would be removed? Thanks.

Quoted from Gott1978:

It's to keep the ball from getting hung behind the flasher if it gets flung off the wireform. Not sure why it would have been removed, but it's honestly probably not a huge deal. I don't recall ever having a ball bounce on mine.

#972 4 years ago

FWIW, mine does not have that plastic, and I didn't know it was supposed to until now. Anyway, there's plenty of airballs on this game, but no stuckies for me there. Enjoy your game!

I've been working on a Pinsound mix for this, albeit very slowly, anyone else? I've seen a translite too, but it wasn't a quality print. I can't be the only one modding Nascar to a Talladega Nights??

#974 4 years ago

I just got my Nascar Sunday. It's a great looking game but I've run into some issues.

Firstly, the ball is no longer being shot around. The magnets are hooked up and the red lights are on but they aren't doing anything.

Secondly, I can't get the translite off. The key is turning the lock but it's as if the left side isn't being released. I can lift up the right side high enough to remove it but not the left. I was going to remove the lock but I don't have a bit to fit those screws. Does anyone know what exact size bit those are?

Anyone have any thoughts on these issues?

#975 4 years ago

I have not had those issues.
I am aware that the accelerator magnets tend to attract dirt, debris.

#976 4 years ago
Quoted from Herk:

red lights are on

Does it trigger the switch on the switch test?

Quoted from Herk:

It's probably easier to drill it out and buy a new lock. There may also just be something blocking the left side. It would be unusual for the bar that holds the translite in to be broken.

Check the fuse for the magnets , remove it and test it. If ok make sure the fuse holder has good tension - I *think* it is F20 on the main board but check the manual or printout in the backbox. Could also be worth reseating the connector at the board which handles the magnet wiring - again check manual.

Sounds like the cam lock is turning but the latch on the other side is not. I had this happen on a Transporter I was working on. I had to drill out the lock, but sometimes you can get lucky and just keep rotating the key and the latch will turn. It's mostly a feel thing. If you are positive it is the correct key for the back box (many keys will fit but won't turn the tumblers). Cam locks are notoriously easy to pick. Check YouTube for help if you are against pulling out your drill.

Quoted from Fifty:

I’m pretty sure. It’s turning the lock just fine and releasing the right side. Just not the left.

I got it open! I was able to grab hold from the speaker opening and jiggled until it loosened.

Only had my NASCAR pin for a week, but am loving it! I only have experience with Gottlieb system 1 pins, so have a couple of questions:

1) What are the best source for parts? From what I can tell Marco has the most. Are there others that I should know about?

2) Do I need to periodically wax the playfield, or just keep it clean? It is already fast.

Thanks.

1) I found Marco was the best for NASCAR.
2) Yes and yes.

Mine came with zip ties holding the test car on.
Once one of them breaks it is time for some cleaning and new ties.

No zip ties here, thankfully. And the playfield is clean

Today will see a coat of wax and the rubber cleaned.

I made some art blades and instruction cards today. What a difference!

I like to mess around with graphic design and I just got a nice big printer.
Then I had them laminated and I spray glued them on.

Nice art blades. Nicest ones I've seen. The generic checkered flag ones from other vendors don't do anything for me.

With Atlanta and Homestead-Miami races being postponed I'm glad I can take a few laps around the track at home!

Speaking of which, last night I had a ball get caught between the rotating car and the ramp. After that ball was hit with another ball, it was freed, but not before the pin went through several cycles to try to find all the balls. Has anyone else had this issue? Is there a way to keep it from happening again?

I'm surprised it didn't blow a fuse. Was the impact plate turning or stationary when the ball got stuck?

Quoted from Fifty:

I didn't actually see the moment it got caught. But given the position of the plate, I'm confident it was turning at the time it got stuck. It looked like the plate and the ball just happened to be at the same place at the same time.

It plays normally now

Until it happens again I wouldn't worry about it. It seems more like a well timed shot than a mechanical issue.
