sounds like bad cpu ram or power supply/connector issue.

Or if batteries are still on the board they may have leaked. Check and post back. A picture helps as well
Hmm still not the best picture but from that shot...yup looks like corrosion from prior leakage. I would remove the ram at 212 and inspect the socket with really good light and glasses and/or magnifying glass. If you see any at all the socket must be removed and everything abated then a new socket and nvram added and battery box removed. Do the diode above it and any other affected components as well. Otherwise the corrosion will continue to spread.
