I have a Vector with a toasted MPU. I bought a clean MPU from eBay that was supposed to work...surprise. No dice.

I'd like to have them both fixed and then I will sell one to someone in need.

So, who can repair them at a decent price? I'd rather use the original ROMs, but I'm not absolutely against EPROMs.

Here's what I've got. The one that is in the machine is supposedly set for EPROMs, that was not mentioned when I bought it. I do not have EPROMs but I know they are readily available.
When I put that one in the machine with or without the original chips I get the solid green led light. If I put in the EPROMs, do you think it would work?

The board does that machine is my original, you can tell it has some corrosion to it. The one in the machine that I bought looks pretty good. The original chips are also pictured.

I fear buying the EPROMs and putting them in the new board that is supposedly set for them will not result in a working board because I now get the solid green light.

Looking at the board that's in the machine, does it appear to have the correct jumpers?

I knew they were different, I just didn't know how. Thank you for that, but the questions remain as the board set up for the EPROMs still gives me the solid green light.

The board I bought off eBay did not come with any EPROMs, that is the one in the machine that you say is set up for that. So maybe it's worth the $20 experiment to see if it will fire up with the EPROMs if I can get the 2716s?

Thoughts on that? Clearly I don't know enough about this.
