It's time to admit the truth, I love drop targets, possibly more than anything else in pinball...

Check for your favorite drop targets below -- (and give a big thumbs up!) -- if it's not there...
Name your favorite drop target banks!

1) 1981 Bally Centaur: "O-R-B-S"
2) 1981 Gottlieb Black Hole: "B-L-A-C-K"

I think the fact that there are rules involved that reward you for hitting them in order makes them even more enjoyable...

Which are your Top-2 favorites?

My collection averages over 10 drops per game. I declared myself the King of Drops a while back. Being mostly into the Gottlieb EMs, I guess my favorites are Playing Cards which are on many games (including WPT) and the Clown faces from Jack in the Box.

Big Daddy's lone drop target, Joker Poker's upper bank, and Judge Dredd's bank of 5.

The Hobbit
Barracora

If you like drop targets Mavrick has you covered

#6 10 years ago

Fathom's 15 drops take the cake.

1-2-3 that reward you for hitting them in order
3 inline drops to release a ball behind them
3 more inline drops that are sideways
a 6 bank of alternating blue-green. completing a color drops one of the inlines

Come on! That's just amazingly awesome!

#7 10 years ago

Quick Draw / Fast Draw - Complete the banks, they come back up, and knock down leaving only the center 5000 target standing.

Jacks Open - Complete the card sequences towards Royal Flush. Targets reset and the Black Cards are knocked down leaving only the Royal Flush Standing.

Jumping Jack in the Box - Who doesn't like Clowns?

Oh, Almost forgot 2001 with its TWENTY DTs!

Sweeping the 3 on Whirlwind is fun.

#9 10 years ago

Centaur, both sets
Jungle Lord, Double Trouble

Gee, I never thought of doing that. My favorite drop targets are the ones on BBB. If I were to give them names I'd start with the target on the left and name him "Lefty". I'll have to think about names for the others, though.

hahaha -- I have the jet bumpers on my Gottlieb Black Hole named: BAMF, SOB, FML, and the innocent one up top that actually helps score the 1-2-3 lanes, Buddy.

I named my favorite drops target Larry, Darrel, and his other brother Darrel. Although it seems silly to name drop targets.

#15 10 years ago

2001 FTW!!!

#16 10 years ago

I love inline targets... I have black pyramid and met pro

#17 10 years ago

Anything with inline drops will get a vote from me, but Paragon is king!!

#18 10 years ago

1.wpt 2 .24

#19 10 years ago

Big fan of the three Sorcerer drop targets and the dedicated flipper to knock'em down.

#20 10 years ago

i have come to enjoy hitting the 4 on my dr dude and actually try to hit them. at first i didnt care for them but the shot is kinda tuff as you sometimes need to use the slings to hit them.

#21 10 years ago

The Cactus Canyon drop targets. So crucial to the game and great fun to shoot.

#22 10 years ago

Swords Of Fury: Love the timed reset of the upper playfield targets, taking longer to reset each time you knock them down, plus the chance of the ball dropping back down to the lower playfield if you happen to aim the ball where a drop target is already down, and of course hitting the roving jackpot target during multiball.

#23 10 years ago

Did everyone forgot about EBD!

#24 10 years ago

Alien Poker; drop em in order, or not at all!

#25 10 years ago

Medusa!

Agree... I like how the DT's reset individually

#27 10 years ago

Laser Cue; drop em in order, or not at all!

I will say I also enjoy the drop targets in the middle of the playfield...so Cactus Canyon & Defender.

#28 10 years ago

Cactus Canyon, how awesome are these things....the best bar none

#29 10 years ago

Diner and Taxi.

#30 10 years ago

Last Action hero, get all 5 down without hitting the bar behind or they reset!

#31 10 years ago

Meteor has to be included.

#32 10 years ago

1973 Gottlieb Hot Shot- 2 banks of 7 drop targets each
and 1977 Jacks Open (not "Jacks to Open")

#33 10 years ago

I love the billiard drops and the inline drop targets on 8 Ball Deluxe.

But the shot in ACDC where you can clip the first "T" in TNT and have the ball hook left and ring the bell is really satisfying.

#34 10 years ago

Wondering which manufacturer created the best drop target titles, as confirmed by our most discerning Pinsiders... ?

The scientific results are trickling in... 33 machines in, we have our first set of data:

Williams:10
Bally:9
Gottlieb:8
Stern:3
Data East:2

I like the in line drop targets on 8 Ball Deluxe.

Quoted from Kneissl:

Alien Poker; drop em in order, or not at all!

I second this one!

#39 10 years ago

The 173K single drop on Nine Ball.

#40 10 years ago

Paragon
Fathom
Centaur

#41 10 years ago

I was watching an interview with Python Anghelo the other day where he said that the Marilyn "suitcases" drop targets were never supposed to be suitcases, but pics of the 3 Kennedy brothers. You knock them down, and get to pick up Marilyn!

#42 10 years ago

Flash, I love sweeping that 3 target bank from the upper flipper.

#43 10 years ago
Quoted from schwarz:

Paragon
Fathom
Centaur

I have this stereotypical image in my mind that anyone who owns one of those games has all three, and has them all right next to each other. Maybe an Eight Ball Deluxe, too.

I'd love to be one of those people someday...

#44 10 years ago

Alien Poker and Eight Ball Deluxe for me

#45 10 years ago

Metallica of course and as a added bonus when you hit them they end up like this.

1. WPT
2. AC/DC (Premium)

#47 10 years ago

CC or any other titles with drops in center of PF as targets.

Followed next by any machine with good rules and inline targets. Really like Flash Gordon inline targets on the right side.

#48 10 years ago

Jungle Lord - Double Trouble
Jacks Open
and the inline targets on Harlem Globetrotters

#49 10 years ago

Catacomb rocks it with 4 banks of 3 and a rule set to drive you nuts.

After that I think 8-ball deluxe

#50 10 years ago

"N" on TRON LE. Right flipper onto that baby, pop it and bank straight up the middle of Gem. Oh there is no sweeter shot.
