Quoted from PinRetail:

Hey JakePG, no, these cannot be purchased new, and furthermore there is an extensive thread on forums.arcade.museum about the difficulty keeping these obsolete machines with unobtainable parts running.
A quick google search for 'namco rockin bowl o rama' gets you to the thread 'for those of you with a broken Namco rockin bowl a rama'
Interesting stuff, there is a hobby movement to try to replace various needed parts to keep these machines working.
From a Pinside perspective, when you go to an amusement auction to buy pinballs they fill up the auction with other things that are not pinball. (Shakes head... I know, right? Why would they do that?) You can usually find the rockin bowl a rama machines occasionally working, more often not working, at these kinds of amusement game auctions.

Thank you for the information. I appreciate it

What are these going for now? I’ve got one in pretty good shape that plays off a thumb drive. We don’t play it much anymore and I can always use more space. Also have a dragon punch game (punching bag machine) I could throw into a deal.

Both non-working

Yes, one isn’t working for $1300. The other works but makes noises on start up. It gives him a reference for prices!

#256 2 years ago

The one for $950 just sold for $600! A bunch of us received an offer I missed out on it. I don’t have my notifications on for eBay. I’ve learned my lesson! Lol

There was a fully working one in great shape at Southern Fried Gaming Expo year before last that was listed at $1500. I still kick myself for not buying that one...

There was one on display at the recent AMOA/Amusement Expo. It did not seem as rugged as the 2005 version. The cabinet resembles that of a British jukebox.....

"Rugged" is an understatement. The original version is a beast (in a good way). . .but, heavy as hell and cumbersome to move.

Agree on the original, commercial model being a bitch to move. I didn't take a pic of it at the show, but here's one from last month's RePlay. The trackball on the new one feels like a toy vs. the bowling ball feel of the original.

That's disappointing. The hefty trackball on the original is the critical component that allows the player to maneuver the ball.

Sound "pumped" through a 2.1ch system. That's funny. Probably kicking out 25 watts too.

It has a 3" Happ trackball just like on Rockin' Bowl-O-Rama. The only difference is Rockin' Bowl-O-Rama had a cast/machined aluminum mounting plate while Jukebox Bowl-O-Rama's is a steel plate. The control panel is still extra thick for stability. The sound system is a bit over 75W. The speakers were optimized by a high-end speaker expert to obtain max efficiency and sound quality.

Are the computer parts easily swapped in the new version? Or is it custom and linked so you can’t swap.

It doesn't use a PC so there's nothing to swap. The game code is on a micro SD card which is not linked to the board so it can be easily re-flashed or replaced if necessary. The hardware is similar to Pac-Man Battle Royale Chompionship Edition.

Custom controller with microSD plug into?

Can this setup be used on older machines to replace the outdated pc, etc?

Fingers crossed it can, and it's will be available to purchase. I'd really like to resurrect my original.

I have a Namco Bowl o Rama in the retro cabinet in the central Florida area that I might trade +/- cash for a pinball, if anyone is interested. The board has been serviced with a usb upgrade, and the game is in nice shape.
