Apologies if this is already mentioned somewhere in this thread, but who/where are these games being built? I see the company is based in Texas so I'm assuming the building is being contracted to one of the existing factories in Chicago? Or did the build their own factory?

TIA

Thanks to all of you, we had a great weekend and time at Expo! As you may have heard, the machines we are selling direct are all spoken for or you could say “sold out”. The rest of our sales will go through our fine distributors (https://shop.kollectfun.com/distributors/) of which we will be adding more this week. We want to thank all of you for your support and fantastic love you have shown for our company, employees and first game. We are just now getting back to the office so if you have sent us an email with a request we will be getting through all of them this week. There are a lot of requests so please be patient, we will get to everyone soon. Thanks again for your support!

I think you'll be very happy with Labyrinth. I know for me personally, its no contest. I expect the games to be very solid and reliable too. They survived a lot of punishment with minimal downtime. AP games do seem to be solidly built and reliable (just like Gottlieb system 3!) at least up until GTF, I do have to give them full credit for that.

For anyone hesitant on the topper due to height, if you are looking at buying, I'd get the topper anyway. There might be a way to connect it on a shelf next to it or maybe the end product will fit. It didn't seem that tall to me. The game will have more value with a topper of this quality. I couldn't stomach getting this pin without the topper. It's so good.

This is me. My basement arcade roof is low, I have to remove the toppers from all my games I put in there. If I have it in my garage, the topper can stay, but I typically only play games in my garage in the Spring and Summer, so it's where my older games go. So I bought the topper, even though it may not be on my game in the arcade set up. I was thinking about building a wire loom and putting it on a shelf nearby to it could still interact with the game. If I do it right it could look cool.

Anyone know if there is a wizard mode on this table? I am about to pull the trigger. Looks great and the reviews are through the roof!

#2261 11 months ago

Let's table that for now.

Quoted from mattdawg:

I'm not sure if there's a Wizard mode in the game yet, but there's a Wizard on the table:
Labyrinth wizard (resized).jpgLabyrinth wizard (resized).jpg
Note that the playfield plastic under the Wizard extends out over the scoop in this picture. I was concerned that over time the ball striking and flexing the scoop would snap the plastic (like happens with the snackbar plastic on CFTBL), but seeing the Labyrinth games at Expo it appears they have already trimmed back the plastic over the scoop.

There is one planned. There's an insert for it on the playfield. You fight the goblin king after getting all the orbs. Orbs are through leveling all the friends up to level 4 and completing all the mods and ???.

Battle Jareth is the wizard mode and to get there you need to collect 13 orbs. There is a picture in the photo gallery showing you how to collect the orbs.

Some castle wall/stone decals might look nice to dress things like these optos up? Flashinstinct?

So I flew to Expo for one reason, and one reason only..... to find a reason to NOT buy Labyrinth.

I couldn't, and that's coming from someone who is obsessed with the theme, but was dead set against buying a "first time' company's machine.
,
The flippers felt strong (somewhere below a Stern, above a JJP, very similar to TBL) but somewhat 'floaty' a bit. I came in looking for reasons to knock it down a peg, but I honestly couldn't. I put more than 40 games on it split between the BOF and Kingpin booth. I observed at least 50 others play the game, beat on it, and it just kept going. The artwork was first rate, the BOM seems absolutely on point, shots were clean, everything worked, nothing went down on any of the 5 machines at any point I saw (Saturday only)

As someone who either buys LE's up front, or highly mods most of the rest to include things like powder coat, and lighted speakers, I can really appreciate that this is already done by BOF. The labyrinth cutouts on the speaker grilles, the oxblood powder coat (which does NOT translate in pics), the APPROPRIATELY priced topper!?

From someone who was determined to walk away with a reason to not buy this machine, I walked away ordering one instead

Great job guys. Now if David will answer me back about custom number ordering......

#2267 11 months ago

Does anyone know what the BOF monthly production capacity is or what the ramp up production plan is? 1100 machines over 12 months is roughly 91-92 machines per month. That seems optimistic for a new company but would be awesome if it can be achieved. I haven’t seen or heard anything more specific than the 1100 over the next 12 months goal.

#2268 11 months ago
Quoted from ChiPin1978:

I would just mentally double any delivery estimate from a new factory. No offense to BOF in particular. They look to have their stuff together to an unprecedented degree for a new company. It's just, pinball is hard.

Anyone who preorders would be happier just putting Labyrinth on the subconscious back burner. Don't count the days; be happy when it arrives. Notice I said when, not if. I've never had that level of confidence in a new company before.

#2269 11 months ago

I heard it was 331 per month.

#2273 11 months ago
Quoted from Haymaker:

I think every single one stinks (octoberfest plays ok I guess), they all sold poorly, they all look awful, and they are all a joke. Even if you're one of the weirdos who likes AP games for whatever reason you cannot logically say anything they have done is even in the same universe as this game. Its like comparing Class of 1812 with Monster Bash or something. Yeah class of 1812 has its fans, but like...come on lol, Monster Bash it is not. These guys went out and got an actual license that a good amount of people care about, made a game thats loaded with stuff and does the license justice, shoots well, looks amazing, I mean the list goes on. This game will outsell the first 3 AP releases combined. Theres a reason for that. I bet all ~1100 units will sell out with relative ease.

I hope you're being compensated for all of this promotional work.

I am a fan of AP. They make great pins. Unfortunately, they are a modern-day example of why most pinball companies won't make unlicensed themes. Way too many theme whores in the hobby. "Er ma gerd! A movie I watched when I was 6! Please take my $12k." I'll stick with my tits and beer Oktoberfest.

Nothing against Labyrinth. It looks like a solid first effort. It's a little expensive.

The first 150 or so were to be made and sent to the first wave of buyers, to be sure they are solid. The rest of the run would be done, starting April 2024.

That was from Knapp, and I feel like it was mentioned on one of the various interviews.

One guy at their booth was giving the weekly total as a daily number, but I got the actual answer from them. Right now it's around 5 a week and soon 10 (they still need to scale up and train their production line). They want 6 months down the road to be at 100 machines a month. So only a couple hundred people will have these in the next 6 months.

This is going to take over a year to build the 1,000+ they end up making.

Just as someone else noted, I also flew up to Expo last minute for the sole purpose of checking out this game. I played it more than any other over the weekend. All the BoF guys were great to talk to. You can see their passion for what they're doing and a high level of competence. The game is everything everyone has said. I saw a lot of people smiling while they played it. I'm glad to be getting one.

It will be every interesting and full of butt hurt to see who gets theirs in the first few months and hearing how and when they ordered.

#2287 11 months ago

Well, there will be at least 1 person not butt hurt about waiting. I asked to be pushed on down the line, after I saw the EHoH BRK version drop. I've wanted an EHoH but never cared for the way the Premium looked.

#2288 11 months ago

For those that played, and are not Labyrinth fans, why buy this game?

Looks like it has great theme integration, nice art and quality build, but there doesn’t seem to be anything special about the playfield design or rules. They look good, just doesn’t seem to be any unique / wow design aspects to pull in non-fans like Stern has done with titles like IMDN, Godzilla and FF.

My impression is that BOF smartly kept the design simple for their first release knowing that theme and art would move a decent number of units.

I've had an EHOH for a while, great game, always will be.. So many different art packages for that specific title and ultimately on that title it's all the same game. I think one of the things I really love about Labyrinth is FINALLY a company is making one version of the game. I wish other companies would do that. I totally understand why they don't, but it's refreshing the way BOF is. Time will tell but hopefully BOF never makes any more Labyrinths and just moves on to the next title (hopefully that's GOONIES)... I'm all about more pinball for everyone, but these companies need to start sticking to the claim of their production numbers (more so these special / limited runs) without breaking that promise.

Yes... working on it. We had to get the game built first.

"Can I ask for a particular game number?"

You can request a game number through your Distro or us if you purchased from us. We will do our best if it is available.

As to build rates... as we were saying at the show, it will be slow through the end of they year as we refine processes. In January it will begin to normalize as we bring in more staff. So to call a date on anyone's order would be terribly difficult right now. We will be working on how to estimate your order as we move forward with our ERP software that tracks all aspects of the build. You will be contacted about 2 weeks before your machine goes on the line for final payment and shipping instructions. Hope that helps and THANKS for all the kind words!

Great question. I saw Labyrinth in the 80s as an 80s kid. As an "adult" i can't remember a thing about it, so it would essentially be a unlicensed theme to me. For the price, there are current themes and pins I know. This is not s slam to BoF. This whole launch was done right and I look forward to the next release.

I don't really understand or believe that. I assume a truck will be picking these up weekly or more frequently and shipping as they are made. And not like they are going to stop production after 150 for a month to wait for feedback. Also don't conflate that 150 with the direct orders. Direct/distro ship Interleaved by order date.

Quoted from luckymoey:

I have all 3 games you mentioned. May sell FF or IMDN to make room. You named 2 Elwin games. You can say the same thing about any non Elwin game. Foo fighters has a couple of interesting things (dead post). Great flow and stuff but not a "loaded" game. Venom could be a P3 module. EJ is star trek with more LEDs. GTF is a bunch of 3d printed toys and a cow on a string (with great art!).

I think labyrinth is in league with modern games...it just has a lot of the mechanical complexity you can not see. You only see 1 of 3 vuks. You don't see the 3 entrances to the 2 subways, or the diverters or 2 magnets. Lifting ramp. But that's intentional. It's trickery hidden by the beautiful sculpts(which is done to a level you don't see in many..any? modern games)

It's fair to say they aren't complex or revolutionary mechs. There's no giant interactive toy, unless you consider "the labyrinth" as one big giant toy, and based on how well it's integrated into the playfield and with the theme I'll give them that.

In fairness she said they expect pins to start shipping sometime in April. I waited nearly a year for Halloween and Godzilla. I have no prob waiting. I was just looking for a rough idea. I realize even distributors don’t always know, and can’t control when they get them.

150 is probably 3-4 months worth of production for BoF, since they said they are currently at ~5 a week, hoping to push to 10. So the timing probably is right...make the first batch, which will take them into February/March, then the rest. This game will take all of 2024 to finish the run, almost certainly.

I can deal with a theme I don't like, but at least make the games good, the art good, and have some sort of appeal. Thats the problem with original themes, they only appeal to small audiences. Its actually an extremely easy concept to understand, so I have no idea why some people need to cope so hard about it. Labyrinth is a theme I don't give a flying crap about. I've never seen the movie, I don't think I even heard of the movie until I was like in my 20s and Youtube finally came around. Yet, here I am loving this game. So sorry, try again.
