Great first effort!!! We need these quality offerings to counter the Pinball Adventures and Homepin failures. I think they would have been better off keeping the price at a Stern premium or lower but looks like your getting alot for your money. Not a "must have" theme for me so will wait and see if it can be had for cheaper second hand down the road.

Don't think you can start an owners thread till you own one ,
try a Hype thread !

I have my preorder in, does that count? Is there a specific list of requirements for starting an owners thread? Legit question as I have not been a member of Pinside for a very long time.

He touched on this during the podcast. He said they wanted every machine to be the collectible and for nobody to have an inferior version. I like that philosophy.

Makes perfect sense to exclude her. You are the one in the maze, not her.

Nah, it only makes sense if it was impossible to put her in the game.

Quoted from Zen_Monkey:

I’d much rather them go this route then have jennifer and not bowie though.

Now this is a good point, 100% agree!

would pm Robin , but others have tried and been shut down having an owners thread till they are least shipping !

Question: On the trailer video at 0:49 you see the diverter.... it appears to slide in a groove, and the ball rolls over the groove when it's open.
Any concern about that chipping like crazy? I don't see how you could fit a cliffy in there.

#908 11 months ago

Exciting…. But the website having a different name is odd…. Maybe that’s good because they are concentrated on making products and not marketing…. That’s all my thoughts on it, lol….

#909 11 months ago

If CPR is making the playfield, they should offer people the option to work out a direct buy from CPR and have the playfield sent to their favorite clear coater.
I'm sure the likes of Ron Kruzman would LOVE to be able to simply wipe down and shoot their glass instead of removing clear first. I understand BOF has a timeline but allowing folks to get a custom pf job certainly couldn't put any screws into the production time line right?

BTW, nothing against CPR's quality. Companies will openly admit they can't provide a super top notch clear job as it's too labor/cost restrictive.

If there's something I'm missing that makes this idea not workable please explain what it is.

Only 1100 units doesn’t allow a chance to play it first, think about it, see the hardware, code or anything. Wish it would be a larger number available

Go to pinball expo. Play it. You are not far.

#911 11 months ago
Quoted from JSC:

sounds like they doing it the right way as a new company.

Maybe they studied where other companies are lacking and endeavored to make those parts better ?

Didn't see Bowen or Danesi listed as part of the team in the Knapp article, were people just guessing this or am I missing something?

#913 11 months ago
Quoted from SpyroFTW:

I think 1100 is a lot. Its more than I figured it would be limited to. For those lucky enough to go to expo, they will get to play it. There will be videos from potato phones for the rest of us plebs

I'm going and I'll try to get as much good video as they'll let me. I'm sure a few of the big YT people will get some quality footage and they have a rep so they might get more info and video than I would. If I see the notorious YTers there I'll push them to make a dedicated video for this. RetroRalph will probably get some footage and he usually live streams the event a bit.

Love Scott and Eric P, but lost some respect for Bowen when he went online and started bashing Spooky. Not sure what he brings of any value to the team. The rules on ACNC is his claim to fame? No thanks.

Bowen for sure, he's talking about it on Facebook. Johnny Crap that did the art for Jurassic Park among other games did the playfield art.

Isn't it time for an owners thread?

Who owns one?

Always two sides to a story.
Spooky lost some talent with Bowen
This thing looks impressive but still early.

#918 11 months ago

For everyone worried about Bowie & Connelly in the game keep in mind SAG-AFTRA is still on strike. Voice actors are no longer on strike and that might be why they're able to make promotions with the puppets but not the actors. We won't know until someone sees these in person but there are limitations to promotion of any material involving actors until the strike is over. That could be the simple explanation.

Sure it does. You think they're gonna sell over 1k of these right out of the gate? Covid party is over. Stern can barely sell that many Venoms.

No shade to the company and all involved; I wish them the absolute best.

He came onto ACNC late I think and the rules aren't the problem with that game. Also, he did all the rules for Rick and Morty and I love Scott but the rules are better than the layout there.

That’s fair on ACNC. Still don’t think the rules make it fun despite the layout. Not sure how R&M was divided between Bowen and Eric, as it seems Eric did much more than just implement.

Show some class. Don’t throw shade publicly at your former employer. Smells like Franchi.

This game reveal trailer BLEW my expectations completely away!!! WOW!

I know they said max 1100 of them, are they creating numbered plates / plaques ? Example 0123 of 1100 ? Not a big deal other wise, Just curious.

First addressing the coin door… I can think of my TRON LE had a single coin slot and that game turned out just fine.

Not sure if anyone mentioned the labyrinth / speaker grills maze really nice touch!

The powder coating on this is cool.

The art by Johnny Crap from what I see nailed it!

From the front I love the front coin door area decals with the “eye lichens” and the “allo worm”… why because that’s where Sarah starts her adventure…

Don’t care that Jennifer Connelly aka Sarah isn’t in this game whatsoever… you are playing in the labyrinth not as her but as if YOU enter the labyrinth.

The random firey creatures that pop out pretty sweet.

The back area of the playfield LCD looks nicely integrated.

Love Bluto popping out of the turret.

The 1k topper looks pretty sweet (although not really a topper guy)

I very much like the fact that they are making a one game model as opposed to 3 tiers. You know how it’s been done by Bally / Williams for virtually forever miss those days.

Lots of big names involved with this game. Which is a really good thing looks like an aMAZEing team / collaboration. 0330FCBF-AA7E-44C8-8A38-9AF1435457B0 (resized).jpeg0330FCBF-AA7E-44C8-8A38-9AF1435457B0 (resized).jpeg

I’m wondering what the number allocation / turn around time is based on the number you order. I was able to figure out virtually spot on within a week Spookys delivery date based on when others started to receive their games. I see their website has 1k preorder and a buy it now at $10,600 for the game… wonder how quickly you get your game.

I mean this has got to be winning TWIPY award for so many things legit blew my expectations out of the water. It was a pleasant pinball surprise.

Well that club thread didn't last long

#924 11 months ago

They have "David Fawcett" on technology, that's Fawzma former coder for Spooky correct?

#925 11 months ago

This game looks killer. I'm willing to take the plunge and looking to order along with all the accessories. Topper looks insane.

MBowie and the muppets. That is all that matters.

Totally.

From the trailer sounds like you are Sarah attempting the Labyrinth.

I hope you’re right. Definitely hoping the best for this company. If this is the type of games they can offer, and accessories, then I’m all for it. Just hoping you’re correct that 1100 allows enough time to make an educated purchasing decision

This was my take too. Which I'm totally fine with. My biggest worry really is just that playfield and support from a new company.

What a great looking pin and a dream theme! Preordered w/ topper. Completely sold me.

#934 11 months ago

Bunyip confirms that the non inclusion of Sara was a choice in the Aussie pinball podcast. He states that this game is about the players quest to defeat the Goblin King and to save the babe. I personally think that this is an excellent choice for full immersion purposes. The player is you and you are IN the game. Would I have liked to see Sara in the game because she’s in the movie? Sure, but I’d rather be IN the experience as a player. I’m fully behind that decision. And…I’m buying the f’n game cause it looks FUGGING INSANE.

What kind of hardware runs it? Is there a shipping date yet?

#936 11 months ago

FAST pinball hardware that comes backed with full support. Games are being built now and some are ready to ship

I’ve been told 12 month production window. They have a 20,000 sq foot facility and 12 employees currently

Sorry haven’t heard of FAST pinball or how long they’ve been around.
Have they supported any other game release?

#939 11 months ago

I believe that this is their first production game however they are a reputable company that provide a solid product. Up until now it seems their business model has been providing electronics / PCB’s for home brews. They are in this thread so I’m sure they’ll chime in shortly

Anyone else think the “alternative” backglass beats the fuckin wheels off the one it comes with? That alt is mandatory!

#942 11 months ago

Love new pinball releases.

Not surprised that they were able to showcase a game that wasn’t a barren joke like the new JJP. It’s more of an embarrassment for other companies than really barrels coming out swinging but while so many have failed to do the same thing as a new company, kudos to them.

I really like what I see too as a great alternative for pinball buyers and at the end of the day we’re just hoping to see more inspired pinball games and it looks like this is a great effort.

Topper is absolutely insane and if you’re a buyer of this game, how do you not get it? Shooter rod on the other hand is bad.

Love the pf screen. Not a huge fan of the art (very brown/hobbit) and although I love the muppets, it’s overloaded with them with effects/call outs that I’m wondering how long until they become super annoying. Comparisons to WoZ, I can see a little but that game is way more loaded. And sorry not having Jennifer was not the right call.

Standard translite is terrible and the alt really isn’t better. Shame. Although I would def pick alt over standard. A picture of Bowie that big is ridiculous.

At 1100 for sale, I don’t anticipate there being an issue getting one. This is a super niche theme with a soft market so don’t buy the distro fomo.

Overall a win for the community and I wish them the best of luck. Excited to play one.

This release is also A REALLY BIG deal for FAST as well. Congrats to FAST, long may you prosper while remaining humble in word, deed and wallet
Now that I've sucked up, now write a simple C++ interface like pinsound has and make homebrew literally a "Click and save" type experience.

#946 11 months ago
Quoted from BallyKISS1978:

Being very limited sucks. Her mouth dropped when I told her the price is over $10k. She said $8k tops for it let alone near $12k with accessories is crazy.

Scooby was at or near 10k or more wasn’t it?
This one looks pretty well done.
Make the wife happy

In regards to the production run, there are parts to make 1,100 games but some will be damaged in transit or parts lost/damaged at the factory. The plan is to make at least 1,000 of them.
