remove it as it should be OK. Diamond coat play field is fairly robust. I prefer a hair dryer and pick a corner, then slowly heat up and with little pressure it WILL come off, so you can give her a good scrub.
I use flour to stick to the glue then isopropyl fluid or citrus oil ( Yanks use GOOF OFF a lot )
then a good coat of wax.
don't be scared, give it a go.
If it is looking dodgy, STOP.
