There seems to be some crazing under the mylar at the pops on my Star Trek. Is this just the mylar peeling away or should I be more worried about the paint? I've stopped playing it for now so it doesn't get worse.

Quoted from Darcy:

The slightly raised parts of the Mylar could be getting scuffed by the ball. The Mylar could be lifting, from the planking, causing small air gaps between the playfield artwork and the film.

I ran my finger over the area and it is still smooth, so the damage is underneath the top layer. I'm thinking it's lifting in a vertical pattern but I'm afraid to remove it because it might take a lot of paint with it.

The issue is that it's progressively getting worse as I play the machine. It was non-existent when I purchased the game about a year and a half ago from the original owner. I've been able to notice the wear slowly increasing over the last couple of months. I'll try to get some better pictures when I get home this evening.

Quoted from ForceFlow:

What kind of shape are the balls in? Are they smooth and shiny, or all banged up and rusty?

It's a high-gloss ball from Marco that was installed about 6 months ago and still looks almost brand new. I've never seen this before either. Hopefully better pictures can help shed some light.
