The OP here is a foolish, entitled maroon of the highest order!

what is bad for speculators and investors is good for people who like to play pinball and good for the hobby in general.

if you built a pinball collection because you thought it was guaranteed to appreciate then don't expect any sympathy from the rest of us. you made a dumb mistake and now you're paying the price.

Quoted from John_I:

I've owned MM before. It is not *that* great. STLE will be a better playing game and more bang for the buck.

so you agree the original MM is (was?) overpriced?

Quoted from John_I:

I do, but that doesn't matter. Fact is that this machine appears to have inflation from the factory like we have never come close to seeing before. The development costs and BOM of STLE and WoZ are huge compared to this game.

well, I have no idea what their costs break down to. certainly they will save money not having to create new original graphics, other than photoshopping out the W logos in various places. but they still need to do a ton of R&D and playtesting -- this thing has a totally different board setup than the original, and we don't know the details of the DMD yet. I am not so sure their startup costs are that much less than what stern has to do on any given game.

furthermore I think MM can hold its own against a STLE technologically. they've both got a monochrome DMD. If anything, MM has the better toys, with the drawbridge that goes up and down and the castle that blows up, and inarguably has better artwork.

I can agree that WoZ is a step up, though, and could make MM look dated.

Quoted from Hobbypinball:

Simple laws of supply and demand. When these games are going north of 15$k, then of course someone is going to repro it. How much will the originals lose in value? Just look to cars. An all original MM or professionally restored one won't drop below 10. Was pricing for the new ones announced? If not then I'd guess the new repros are going to be priced I'd imagine either in line or slightly above what a stern Le is or an Le from jjp. So between 8 and 10.

close ... MM LE is confirmed $7995 MSRP, and it's likely sold out on day one (sold out to customers, not merely sold out to distributors).

Quoted from Hobbypinball:

Actually if you think about all the costs and problems jjp had to go through it would probably be more lucrative for pp to sub out the manufacturing to jjp or even stern. Why take on the headache of having to get an assembly line going or brokering deals to manufacture and supply all the upper playfield parts.

well, I assume JJP and Stern manufacturing are all booked up, and doubt they'd bend over backwards to accommodate a direct competitor anyway.

Quoted from garyspinballs:

no remake game will ever hurt the value of a original game.no matter what.

uh oh, better hope no one remembers this post a year from now.

Hahaha!
You better sell your MM right now if you have one

of COURSE he has one.
