Just replaced the opto board on Thing (which officially gets me into the contortionists of America club).

Now the hand is moving again, but keeps resetting back in the up position. What now? Did I not screw the diverter back into the correct position?

Taking it out again will first require a trip to the pharmacy for more Advil.

Not really off topic, just having issues with my Thing going up and down when they should!.

Seriously, I cannot find any pictures or videos on web about the opto board repair and where the diverter piece should start. I just replaced with brand new opto board, and still getting switch test error on down opto.

Taking the Thing mechanism out of the box is not easy because of it's geography under the board (lower right bottom), so I'd like to get additional details before I attempt it again.

I'm glad I gave some of y'all the giggles, but kindly need some suggestions about the opto.

How do I know the correct position? Nothing in the manual, no pictures on the web either. Is it trial and error at this point?
