My Tee'd Off balls were gross, so I made them nice for $1.29.

So the balls on my Tee'd Off were pretty nasty.....

I picked up a bag of plastic practice balls at Walmart - $1.29.

I had to use a heat gun to separate the nasty balls from their plastic bases. There was still a bunch of glue on them but more heat and it peeled right off. Smelled like burnt cat shit.

Some paint came off with the glue, so the bases got a coat of metallic silver spray paint. Then I took the balls to the drill press to get some holes in them. You don't need a drill press for this, any drill/dremel or even an exacto knife would work, the hole doesn't have to look pretty since it's covered by the base. Also you may or may not need to put your balls in a vice for this step - my girlfriend was very helpful with that.

Boom. Much better.

Quoted from a2h2z:

Nicely done! I have exactly the same issue with my balls
One question: is the base (that silver cup) of your balls wacky or does it fit the holes?
My cups are too tight to simply "cover" the bulbs, so it is very hard to take it off without taking the bulb off.

They fit in the holes very loosely, which is different from a lot of pictures I've seen. In other pictures they look tight so the balls sit much higher. I'm not sure which is "right" and why there is a difference. Also Steve Young has the bases for $2.00/ea.

Quoted from OCD_pinball:

I just went through this with a restore of a Teed off. When I first started ,the only way to get the balls OFF, was to seperate the ball from the base, remove the bulb, then the base. The bulb no way would pass through the base. If you had a bulb burn out were you EXPECTED to seperate the ball from it's base to get to the bulb ? I modified some led's and sanded the base a little so now you can pull the ball and base together over the led, but the base is still snug enough to wedge on the lamp socket.

Huh, interesting. And they were just #44 bulbs?
