So after stupidly selling my NIB STLE after I had owned it for a few weeks I went on the search and found another one.

It showed up back in June and went right into the shop. It was dirty and needed a shop job. Badly. But it stayed at the shop through our open house in June and finally brought it home.

Sorry here is the "brought it home" picture

Once home, I needed to make sure it was pooch-approved.

So I figured I might as well give it a GOOD going through. But I haven't really torn down a ton of Sterns, but hey, what else is there to do with a $7500 toy?

So out came the ramps. Yeah. All of them.

This was a little scary...

But...lots of cleaning and 5 coats of wax later, back together it goes...

Titan bands...never used them, but this was a great time to try...

And man...I wanted mirror blades, but took me a bit to find the unique set this machine needed...

Yeah you sold that first one awfully fast. But then again, one could be forgiven with the earlier code.

#9 8 years ago

Couple pretty pictures...

I need to level it, but this is spectacular now. Had a diode that was flaky that I needed to replace, but that's it...

Next I'm probably going to throw a blue DMD into it.

But I just am enjoying playing the heck out of it. Just an awesome game...

Yeah. And there is also something to be said for not-NIB machines. I was surprised at how much better it played after it got cleaned up.

It's amazing how many people have tried to buy this from me. Even dirty people were offering me cash....

I think I'm going to hold onto it for a while

Hey, our cash is just as good as the clean folks' cash.

#12 8 years ago

I'm assuming that STLE was routed? That thing looks like it had seen a lot of plays.

OK, OK...it's all about punctuation...

Even dirty, people were offering me cash...

Better?

#14 8 years ago

I was just going to say it looks brand new. What makes it look like it's seen a lot of plays?

You didn't see the picture of the ramp he removed before he cleaned it?

He also said

Quoted from NJGecko:

It was dirty and needed a shop job. Badly.

I wouldn't think a HUO STLE would be quite that dirty or need a shop job badly unless it had seen a lot of plays.

#16 8 years ago

Did you change the rubbers under the ship?

#17 8 years ago

How do you like the mirror blades?

#18 8 years ago

Good you got it back. It's a sweet machine and the LE is the shit!

Oh, ok. I mainly blew up the playfield pix and didn't see any wear.

#20 8 years ago

OK, now you have officially done made me mad. Mad that I don't own Star Trek. LOL.
I want a Trek so bad, but I suspect something cool is coming by Christmas or so.
Enjoy it dude. Nice machine. Fun to play.

I believe they are made by pinball side mirrors, but not 100% sure. I got them from Michael @ flipper fidelity.

Love them. Some games don't look too good with them, but here they are fantastic!

Ahhh yes, they are listed under their "Special Regular Mirrors" section. Thanks!

Stock Stern balls have often been poor quality. Lots of people have found balls rusty or pitted right from Stern.

#33 8 years ago

Ok ! Thank you ! What size and weight is standard for my ST balls ? I have found different ball sizes on the web...
