Quoted from gweempose:Man, do Red and Ted look creepy with just the eyes!
Yeah! And they look totally normal with the rest of the face on right?
Quoted from shanetastic:My first thought was to paint the radio. It didn't fix my ball locking problem.
I think if you keep trying to fix the problem like this, you'll end up with one stunning looking game, but with a ball lock problem...
RS is one of my favourire DM pins... definitly want to pimp mine good when I get round to doing it... any cool mods out there for RS? I'm sure someones got some funky ideas for Red... and Ted come to think of it...
WOW, cool job on the radio! I'll have to steal that idea from you! Can I?
What kind of paint did you use?

+1! Have you put little green lights in there?

Sure thing!
First I taped off the red areas on the sides and sprayed the rest with a "hammered on look" paint. It gave it a bit of texture. Then I used Testors Silver for the speakers, tuner lines, lower buttons, and top ring. I used Testors gloss red for the upper buttons, and gloss yellow for the arrows.

Little green lights??? I didn't think about adding lights to the radio buttons, but I guess you could wire them into the upper light in the radio...

That could be why your ball lock's not working!!
Dang it!!! Now, I did find some sort of large metal contraption laying in the bottom of the cabinet. I was about to look into that, but obviously I was on the wrong track. I need to order some tiny leds and get and a tiny drill bit and add lights to the radio. Told you I was terrible at troubleshooting!!!

Happy to get you back on the right track ST! Let me know if it fixes the problem in case I have the same issue on mine one day!!
S-Tastic ,, You better come on over tonight and play DM some more so you can Rate it.. My E-mail's and Cell have been Goin CRAZZY ever since it landed on my Property.. I Took the BEST Offer , and it will be Leav-n tomorrow or Thursday nite.. And I was Just gett-n into it.. All i have done to it is ,, pulled the Power driver Board and fixed the bad male lug's on J120 and added a New molex , also put a New molex on the 12v J118 beside of it. Looked a lil-burnt ( Just to be safe ). The 2-Lower Flipper coil's are FL-11629 , the left-side had a FL-15411 in it's place, It felt weak, I have changer that,, ( Strong Now )
Quoted from gweempose:Great job on that radio, Shane! If I ever pick up a RS, I know who I'm sending mine off to ...
Thanks! I think it turned out nice. I was just winging it and had no idea what it would end up looking like. MUCH better than the red blob for sure.
Quoted from BLACK_ROSE:and it will be Leav-n tomorrow or Thursday nite..
What???!!! Already? Well crap. What are you getting to replace it?
Quoted from shanetastic:I was just winging it and had no idea what it would end up looking like. MUCH better than the red blob for sure.
Definitely a very nice job... what type of paint did you use? It's gone on very well!! Looks factory!! You've set a new standard to RS red blob radio re-painting, and I'm deffinitely going to do mine when I get round to stripping it! Thanks for the inspiration!
Ok, so I am making some progress... I have re-sleeved every coil, rebuilt all 4 flippers, installed some fresh rubber, replaced the star posts and flasher covers, polished all metal and plastics, and have started to reassemble everything. Now the problem is that none of the lights work. It may be because I removed them all, but I am still troubleshooting the issue. If I remember correctly, I fixed this on the last machine I worked on by ordering $200 worth of cointakers. Guess I will just do that...
