Slow play ... with 31 modes that most have multi-ball? Does anyone really know how many of Keith's 31 modes are in fact multi-ball? If you are not in a mode, then during that "slow play" you should be looking for what mode you can get to next. That's where all the big points are anyway. The modes that Keith has and will write are the point of the game. If you are not in a mode, you are missing the point(s).

Just my opinion ...

Quoted from Russell:

Is this a software or hardware problem?

This has been fixed or improved with the new code. Make sure you play one with the latest code updates. JJP has fixed a lot of the complaints.

Quoted from kpg:

The more I play TH and learn just what in the hell I am doing, the more I am impressed with Keith's coding abilities.

kpg - good write ups and reviews! Very interesting insight on the modes, ramps, and such. Keep that stuff coming ... somewhere here on Pinside. Keith is great or maybe even the best, but Jack is quick to point out these days that Keith has 3 (relatively new to JJP) code helpers. Keith himself pointed out that the WOZ 6.06 update was the initial training (initiation) for those 3 at JJP - likely with Keith's close supervision. I don't know their background, but they are pumping out the code with Keith. Imagine if Keith can pass down his knowledge and technics to these 3. What a team that could be! So, I guess currently it is more "team Keith" working on the code for the games, likely with Keith's lead. Still ... really, really good stuff coming from "team Keith".

Games were a lot cheaper back then too. Playing for 25 cents a game isn't toooo bad for the shorter game times. But play one of the "faster" Stern games now for $1 for 30 - 60 seconds turns people away. The drains REALLY get you frustrated then. The arcades that charge a flat rate for free play on the machines make those losses just a shrug, as you can move on to something else. And that is similar to home use only also ... as long as you have more options to go to so that it does not get "old" to quickly. Just my opinion.

Quoted from SilverBallz:

They need to add a "save game" feature which will allow you to turn off the game and come back another time to finish it.

Quoted from Goronic:

Check point saving...

I'd agree with that if you only got to resume from the most recent saved game once. It is part of the challenge to keep getting back to those milestone points. The JJP games are long for good players and sometimes you need to pause for life events, like eating, sleeping, etc.. If we can't pause a game, then I would tend to play a different game if I only had 15-20 minutes to kill. That's ok too.

On the other hand ... once you get "zoned out" and focused in on the game, you may tend to forget about everything else - that is sometimes good for you too.
