For anyone else who may ever have to deal with that switch in the trough: it's not enough to just adjust the switch--you have to TEST the switch by rolling a ball through there.
And...while you're back there, make sure you have a bulb in the flasher behind the ring. This socket is notorious for losing the bulb during transit.
