New wife insisted on hiring an Interior Decorator to make my house "less masculine" (ugggh).

To my delight the Decorator INSISTED
we move my 8 pins out of the back cave and integrate them throughout the basement Rec Room.

Her explanation was that "These Pinball Machines are WORKS OF ART!"

    It’s never too late

How much $ did you slip the decorator to say that?

No matter how much, it was a smart move !

So how does the decorator feel about "more art" now that there's more space?

    #6 6 years ago

    Owned!

    #7 6 years ago

Pics please? (not of the basement or the pins...)!

Exactly what immediately came to mind! I thought rather than asking the Decorator (so damn expensive) I'd just buy a couple more pieces of "art."

Of of the sad words of tongue and pen............

    #10 6 years ago

Would your decorator travel to MD for a consultation? I’d like to get some more “art.”

    #11 6 years ago

sounds like you should make the decorator your new new wife.

    #12 6 years ago

Be careful: language like that could be grounds for initiating an affair!

Fortunately you got yourself a "more masculine" decorator.

The decorator should put up a marketplace ad here.

before & after pics would be cool

    Yes she should!

I'm at work but can post some pics when I get home

Btw, new wife hasn't seen the new "art display" in the basement as she's been focused upstairs. Perhaps I can catch her reaction on my cell and post too!

    #17 6 years ago

“You said you didn’t want me spending any more money on pinball machines. You didn’t say anything about buying more art!”

    #18 6 years ago

    Kinda backfired on the wife.

    #19 6 years ago

Quick thinking bribing the designer like that. Good move.

In front of a door, that’s interesting. I wonder what other ideas she had.

Door to furnace--put in glass door with strobe--provides interesting backdrop

WTF is the arm chair doing in front of the pin?

    #27 6 years ago

I need a director like that!

    It isn't--just the camera angle

The chair in front of dialed in.

Oh some sit on it while they play
    Bar stool from Grandin Road

My wife wouldn't mind the pins sprinkled throughout the basement like that because I took it to another level and filled every square inch of space. Keep the decorator as a future consultant to convince your wife you are in need of some new art again.

So does that mean you'll have room for 8 more pins in the back cave ?

    #33 6 years ago

I need to spread my art around a bit - might need a consult from that designer myself....1

    #34 6 years ago

I don't know about your decorator, is she your sister-in-law? Pins in front of doors, chairs in the middle of the room, sheesh. At least she had the good sense to put a tin of potato chips on floor near brown chair - a snack bar scores points. Everything else looks fine, where are your other pins?

What everyone is thinking .. are we going to see before (Wife) and after (Decorator) pics?

    #35 6 years ago

Hahaha--the decorator has been focused on the upper two floors--she just had my son and I move the pins throughout the lower level as a starting point. I am actually responsible for the crazy "retro futuristic" decor which is there now. The two glass doors lead to nowhere (furnace room, office closet). I swapped out wood doors and put in the glass ones The strobe lights behind the glass doors provide a cool ambiance--tie in with AFM, DI, ST, Star Jet, etc. I'll post pics of the lovely wife tonite--she's thrilled with what the decorator has done upstairs so maybe she'll "flow" with the new pinball configuration.

Yes, I secured the necessary releases, lol

    #40 6 years ago

Looks like the necessary releases were secured over dinner.

My wife asked me how much I paid for that lady on my machine.
I told her that her name was Helen and she was not allowed to touch her.

Why did I ask this one to marry me... Other night While she is playing (she’s better than me) she says, You know Ed you really need to add red leg lights to Big Betty (truck stop). Already had blue on Xenon and Green on ghostbusters. Sent Mustang Paul an email with the order this afternoon.
