Good to do an external battery holder, but 2 remarks, I know issues with batteries that corroded in an external battery holder and the fumes damaged the board. So it would be even better to put the external battery holder in de cabinet below. Other option is not to use Duracell but Enegizer lithium batteries, yes they are expensive but your machine is more expensive. These do not leak or fume. Then again in a home situation, check batteries twice a year when adjusting the clock is also a good practice.
