Since I started collecting pinball machines, I always went for the ones that I liked to play throughout the years. Kind of like piecing together my own pinball history. But there was one machine that I figured was just a pipe dream because they didn't make too many, and those that have them, like to keep them (so I've been told). But last week I got lucky, and my grail is on its way!

It looks like it is in good hands.

I believe o-din was bidding on the one for sale on epay, but he held off when the price went rather high for the condition it was in. Then he found out about another very nice Joker Poker e-m type, and I guess they worked out a deal.

I've got a ss Joker Poker that I hope to keep, but it's not in that good of shape.

Congrats o-din on picking up one of your grail pins!
Your pinball machine collection has a nice mix of manufacturer's and decades 70s/80s/90s/00's.

Oh, and that new avatar you now have is much better than the orange blockhead dude.

Cheers! {easy on the Jack}

Very impressive,820 units built since 1978. Congratulations on getting this rare classic machine.

Man, Joker Poker EM! Doesn't get any better than that! Now that truly is a grail pin.

#34 7 years ago

congrats!!!. The machine looks very nicely packed but wouldn't it be better to ship without legs?...would just be a little concerned about cabinet damage that way. Not to hijack thread, but do many people here ship with legs on?

#35 7 years ago

By the way...you are becoming one of OCs finest pinball collections. Awesome.

I would be concerned about shipping damage with or without the legs, but those two guy's are professionals, so I won't worry.

Yes I get that, but the additional risk of shifting of contents and the legs rippping out of the sockets worry me. Hopefully, since they are experienced as you say, they strap it down or pack so it won't shift and put strain on the legs. These things are built tough enough to withstand houligans in arcades so they are pretty sturdy so I am certain it will be ok. I haven't done it yet, but I assume many are shipping with legs on when they use NAVL and getting by. When I tranport in a pickup or other vehicle, I always take the legs off (Not that anyone cares what I do since I am not as famous as Lloyd nor as experienced).

#38 7 years ago

plus you have bought and sold more machines than me which makes your word more highly qualified than mine!!! Again congrats on the game. I have never played one but have heard great things about it.

#39 7 years ago

I just got a pin from NAVL, legs on, no problem. A lot of people prefer that way.

This is only the second pin I had shipped. The first one had the legs off, this one on. I let the seller decide which was best, as they were packing it and both had more shipping experience than I did. I just hope for the best.

God its refreshing to see someone refer to a grail pin and not have it be Tron or AC/DC.
Kick ass score, o-din!

#42 7 years ago

My grail EM is Canada Dry. Maybe someday, I'll find one

Every time I've done this NAVL has unpacked it to check quality of pin and cosmetics. Annoying so I don't do it anymore, so whatevers to them

Is this only on ones that you paid the extra to insure?

I always pay for their insurance so yeah that is probably why. MAkes sense

Yes, I didn't pay insurance on BK2K, and they left it alone. I did insure this one, though.

Also, could just be a local driver pickup thing. Maybe some just want to make sure they are personally covered instead of letting cust wrap? Just a guess

Meant to ask, what makes this your grail pin for you personally?

#50 7 years ago
Quoted from jrivelli:

I have always liked pinball since I was little, and a few games I remember well. Fireball and Klondike when I was a child, and Black Knight when I became an adult. Joker Poker is the one that bridged that gap when I was a teen, and they had a small gameroom at the community college (FJC) that I used to walk through on the way home from high school. Joker Poker was my game. On one quarter I could play forever. Then one day it was gone! I did play the solid state version at Big John's while that place was there, but I noticed it was not the same. Now Joker Poker EM is coming home.
