I had to laugh, I told Dylan he should consider posting this on Pinside. The first thing you need to do is sign-up. He informs me he signed up weeks ago. So I ask what his name is and he says Skyhawk. Thats my X-Box name he tells me.

Quoted from beelzeboob:By the way, buddy, I don't want to hear you whining about sanding when you've got a frigging Festool setup. I did my first one by hand. On the second one, I'm going the full McCune.
LMAO,
showed him today how to hand sand the corners......he was so happy!
Quoted from beelzeboob:Hell, I'll even buy you an ice cream and throw a ball with you. No worries, man
I think I just pissed myself laughing.
Quoted from johnwartjr:The base color is an interesting contrast
Wait until you see his powdercoat color. I realized when he started this project I was being to critical of his work/choices. I'm doing an IJ at the same time so I'm not all over him on his game. When we did the silkscreening ,he didn't get it quite correct and I was frustrated and wanted to do it over (not an easy thing ). He looked at me and reminded me it was his game and it did not need to be perfect. I had a DAD moment He was right, its his first restoration an it needs to be enjoyable, not stressful and not perfect. Apparently I'm learning just as much on this project.
Quoted from Gov:Would you mind sharing the color code for the blue you used on the paint? It looks great!
Dylan told me yesterday someone was inquiring about the cabinet decals. They were purchased on Ebay from a seller, Pintasticpinballonline #1451. I was very happy with the quality.
Quoted from RCA1:Also love the 70's Farrah Fawcett poster.
Gotta bring the boy up right.
Quoted from Blackbeard:Love the purple flippers!
Coming along great!
We went ahead and ordered the black lightning bats from Planetary. Need to contact them Monday ,the third one showed up as a regular one.
Quoted from beelzeboob:I'm trying to compete with your father for having the best equipment
I talked to Janice and she said theres no helping you "equipment".
Quoted from Skyhawk:I'm rebuilding the time expander, can anyone tell me if there's supposed to be grease on the time expander support bracket?
Bump for info
Quoted from pinball_faz:NO!!!
No axle grease
No lithium grease
No 3-in-1 oil
Get some silicone spray. Spray all the metal on metal parts, let it soak, then wipe away excess.

We looked through the manual and repair threads and agree. Apparently the former owners must have lubed it. It took some scrubbing to remove the sludge. We chose to use a bit of graphite (remnants of pinewood derby days).
Quoted from mot:, it's got to feel great to be approaching the finish line! Good luck!
Dylan needed a nudge here and there but now that he sees the completion coming he's persistant.
Quoted from beelzeboob:. He should have it done in time for the 2020 Summer Olympics
Don't listen to him Dylan. He.s just sore that theres no Special Olympic pinball events he can qualify for.
Can we get back to Dylan's restoration
Dylan has expressed his wish to bring his game to the Ohio show to let other enjoy it.
Seriously? I can't believe some people. I will make sure to tell my son to act more excited on your behalf. In fact maybe we can set up a live feed for you. I reluctantly prompted him to join Pinside and share my excitement and now I remember why. 80% of the work in this game he has done with me standing by his side and I could give a rats ass what you believe.Do us both a favor and drain the thread.
We do not. Dylan's game had a lightning flipper in all 3 places. We just swapped them out under the assumption it was the norm.
Quoted from tracelifter:Keep your fingers away from it when you override the safety switch to test that bad boy will take them right off
sound advice
Quoted from Skyhawk:Then, I drilled out the posts and screwed them in. There was a small issue, it doesn't light up. I'm going to figure out what was wrong with it eventually.
There's no I in team son.
We are still having issues with the optos. we were able to stop the gray buttons from catching on the optos with the washers. but the outer two optos still do not register when installed. They work perfectly fine when the unit is not installed. The thought is that they are reflecting on the side of the metal bracket. I talked to Cal50 an he suggested placing a small piece of shrink wrap on the optos to "cone" the infrared signal and direct it. We will let you know if this works.
Quoted from beelzeboob:That's the book I read to Dylan when he was just a wee lad.
Nice , What next Boob ? I know start telling everyone you write books too.....
We got Dylan's game home and set it back up. The last things done were ,adding a diode to the new Tardis, finishing the LEDs, adding side decals and a toy. Dad gave it a quick waxing and reset the scores and audits . The game was played 522 times at the show and came home without a credit dot. I was very apprehensive about bringing it to the show but I'm glad we did.It has become our go to game and we talk a lot of smack.
Quoted from mot:Man, I want to play more Dr. Who.
Who's the loop champ?
You can come and play when you wish.
