Quoted from Trekkie1978:Next time I get a Next Generation machine, I'm going to have Eddie (I forget his company name in Brooklyn) do a restore on it.
On his Facebook page, I forget which machine it was, he had installed new switches and coils throughout the whole machine. IMO, that is the way to go with Next Generation. In the home environment, after that kind of restore, it should be trouble free.
Sadly no, just too much to it to be reliable.
To OP, what problems are you having? Many of us can walk you through most of it. The one upside is with so many made trouble shooting is easier since others have already dealt with it.
